I live close enough to places to walk. I walk to work and walk to school. I only drive if I need to go multiple places, it's nighttime, I need to haul stuff, or it's too far away. This way, I only spend $26 on fuel for a month and can even stretch it upto 3 months.

mothafucka! we got 1.20 i think :o .. thats canadian, heh, funny story here .. there's about 3 areas of town right? then, the two northern gas stations race their prices, less than an hour later, so do the central gas stations, so that leaves one gas station still at 107 hahaha .. well, I was lucky to get there in time

For the first time in weeks, petrol came down 10 cents in some parts of the country (mainly in Dublin). We're now at about €1.10 per litre.

Agreed. Here in England it went down by 4p.

Now I'm driving, I'm a bit more conscious of fuel prices... I also wish there was something going around (On telly, or whatever) that endorsed other fuels. What with the gas-powered engines and such I'd mentioned earlier, it would be nice to let those "closed" people know that "Hey, Fuel isn't going to last forever - in fact we've only got about 20 years left until we run out... Have you thought about switching to something else?" or something...

<rant>And another advert to stop those motherfuckers driving around in their four-by's... My neighbours just sold their four-by, which I thought was a miracle... Except they bought a huge motherfucking replacement that holds twice the amount of people. Clearly they need it... What with neither of them being disabled, and the whole variety of children they need to transport. (Of which, their 'children' are all over 40, and all have four-by's themselves)</rant>

Ok, *breathes*

$2.98/gal here for the cheap stuff.

I agree wholeheartedly, monkey. I think that damned soon they oughtta start considering alcohol based fuels for gasoline engines and I sure like the vegetable oil/biodiesel idea for the diesel engines.

The hydrogen fuel cell (Based on the electrolysis of water, for those of ya who don't know how it works) is highly feasible and has been played with for a long time (a guy even designed one that could use water from any source, but required pretty regular de-gunking to clean the crud off the anodes)-but is still too damned expensive for the average person to afford. All this new technology is what drives automobile prices up so soon only the rich will be able to afford to drive anything. (Unless some of us working stiffs get mighty creative with fuel mapping software and ignition systems.).

I was watching the news yesterday, and they reported on "Car Sharing" - Basically, there's this company just opened up near us that rents out cars to groups of people... There were 4 dudes in this street (All fairly old and not requiring /much/ driving) - but they all shared this car... All had a key, booked any time in a timetable, filled in a logsheet of when they drove it, and then all chipped in accordingly at the end of the month

Neat idea - granted, not right for most people, but still cool

Right, I know this thread is a 'bit' old, but I thought I should add that petrol prices here are now below 1 Euro per litre here (the first time in about 4 years!)

So how's prices fairing all around the world? It's funny how petrol stations put up prices very quickly, but are very slow when it comes to reducing them.

Shit me, where are you?

Cheapest unleaded I've seen lately is 92.9

I read something interesting recently about petrol prices; the usual complaining that barrels have dropped loads in price but at the pumps it hasn't. However, it points out that barrel prices are always given in dollars, and the pound has weakened against the dollar quite a bit...

All in all, the recent $10 drop only equates to around a £1 drop...

Still shit, mind

Today, it was 81.5 cents per liter here. Diesel still a bit high, though one place had it at 97.

And here I am, currently without a road going vehicle.

Wow, normally we Dutchies have the highest fuel prices in the world, it seems like we got some competition from the UK :/

Euro95: €1,25

Diesel: €1,07 - 5 cents below UK prices
