Texture problem

Post by 70's Viking »

Goodday,

I wanted to make a few cars with textures from an old playstation game.
I ran into a problem though, the textures came out looking like this :

Guess these are the textures, i cannot even tell.
Does anyone know what to do, or have a solution to this problem?

Greetings.

Hello Joker,

I guess you used some kind of software that was supposed to be able to open/convert these textures, but it seems like the textures in question were in a different format than expected by the tool. I recall PS1 game resources often using the same file extension for different formats of the same kind.

Either you try to find another converter. Or you try to find some kind of tool that can display/dump video memory within an emulator.

The latter option, using an emulator and dumping the textures, has worked well for me in the past (for the destruction derby mod), so I would try that first

I have stumbled onto another problem.

I dumped textures from another game, and they turn up all foggy.
After saving them to a tiff format most of it is gone, but some of it is still there:

Does someone know how to solve this :help: ?

Seems like they have an alpha channel (for transparency) to me? Something like that or the tool you're using doesn't properly support their format. Or both.

Is there a way around it?

I'm using 3Dripperdx.
I do not know if there are any other programs that can be used to dump textures.

I forgot to mention that some textures from the same game do not have this effect.

Edit :
Anyone know how to get rid of this effect?
