TDR2000 mod

Post by Razor »

Thought I'd may as well announce it now, I'm working on a TDR2000 mod to C2, at this stage I'm hesitant to call it a total conversion as I've only just began by collecting the completed TDR->C2 vehicle/map ports and began working on new vehicles/maps/etc. (some being modifications of vehicles already created by members of the community)

I shall hopefully finish this one but as I rarely finish shit that I start I shall not call it a complete total conversion until I get to a stage where I'm comfortable calling it that.

Current progress-

Nabbed the following conversions/ports:
Copcar
Eagle 4
Garbo
Hawk 4 (not TDR but including it anyway)
Jaws
New Suppressor (and by default the Suppressor)
PedBasher
The Beast
Limey

Hollowood alpha
Hell

What I'm currently working on (all WIP of course):

Tres Hombres:

Stormbringer:

Husky:

Big Wig:

I've got all of the remaining maps from Errol, they just need finishing up and setting up for the game.

Hey that's a cool project. I'd like to see Rubber Ducky and Steam Machine.

For existing other C2 vehicles:
Enforcer we have Interceptor by Chevelle

Errol got Ducky out of TDR, here it is in PT2! :)

Just needs finishing, heh.

EDIT: He also got Blood & Bones out.

Way ahead of ya' on that one, haven't fiddled with Chevelle's Interceptor yet, busy with Big Wig which is nearly complete now!

Quick little update, I'm now able to get vehicles directly out of TDR2000, so will be porting every TDR vehicle over to C2 for this mod (minus the already ported vehicles of course)

Sorry, maybe I'm not reading this right. How are you porting if you can't get the vehicles out of TDR?

I was having trouble with getting models out of TDR2000 before as packrat was being a dick during exports and leaving corrupt files around but I'm able to get packrat to extract TDR's .hie and .mshs files now thanks to Tosh, then using Flummery to open said files and export them to a readable format, currently Flummery only exports/saves to .FBX and .CNT but Errol is going to tinker with it tonight and get .act/.dat support in there so that I can save as files that PT2 can read. (saves fiddling with multiple filetypes and having to convert shit multiple times just to get it into a format PT2 can read.)

EDIT: The current process would be: Packrat > Flummery > Noesis (if exported as .CNT) > 3dsmax > ASC2ASE > PT2 which is crazy.
With Errol adding .ase/.act/.dat support to Flummery the process would just be: Packrat > Flummery > PT2

EDIT2: Just read my previous post back and noticed I'd put not instead of now, makes more sense now I've edited it. ;) sorry

yes, a total conversion, thats what C2 needs, ok im slacking on mine but thats because ive got a gaming pc now and ive become a gaming nerd,

But can I help? :D I could re-create the TDR Peds using coffeys peds as a bse... im sure he'll let me? also I could remake a few little components to put on that truck there, as the grill and tanks and such stand out with such a shine.

The hombres skin fits surprisingly well on that truck, tho I cant help feeling ya should probly add the cowl too.

heh sorry mods excite me :D

Sure, you're welcome to fiddle with peds and whatnot as peds will be the last thing I bother with, as for the current stuff I've shown, I will be releasing BigWig as a standalone vehicle and not part of the mod, I'm going to port over each TDR vehicle directly now instead of creating new (modifying existing) vehicles and the others from the first post will likely not be completed as I'm going for direct ports now.

Any case, Ducky is all set up for ingame but not completed yet (it crashes the game and I'm yet to work out why), here it is in PT2:

EDIT: Order I'll be working in is vehicles, tracks, UI, sounds, missions, peds

Sweet stuff, TDR has always needed to be realised in C2's engine IMO. Good luck with this.

When you think about it, there isn't that much TDR can do that C2 cannot.
Hard shadows come to mind (it's a trick though), larger textures, some more advanced animations for props, scripting and camera control.

This project reminds me of Postal 3 Unreal.

FYI, this mod is still being worked on but I'm wanting to finish my BETA MOD before I get back into this one.
I have, however, decided to release the Big Wig that I made as it's now unrelated to the mod as the mod will be direct ports from TDR2000 and not remakes, so that is below!

How's Flummery current state of TDR support? I guess you're waiting until you can port it all much more easily thanks to an improved TDR support in said tool?

The current state of Flummery for TDR2000 is pretty spot on, nothing else was needed after Errol added the 'remove LOD' feature a while back, everything else gets done in PT2. Only reason this is on hold is the beta mod as I don't want to be working on the two mods at the same time and risk putting less work and effort in one because of focusing my efforts on the other.
