Yes, that is where it belongs :-)HYLK wrote:And then there are sane people like me who loves to put the gaspedal were it belongs, on the floor that is.

That used to look like this...
...until I broke the mirrors :-(
I'm fitting some new mirrors (when I find where I stored them), making them adjustable (which I should have done when I made them!), and putting them back on the car :-D
Hemlok
And the mirrors I have are slightly too big to fit anyway...
So I'm making new skelly hands for them :-D

A Moggy Minor?Jimothey wrote:That seriously is Awesome. I'm in the middle of restoration of another classic car, this time English, and surprisingly NOT a Mini.

This is the standard model, mine has chrome quarter bumpers at the front, chrome bumper at the back and chrome flashes down the front wings. I will also be putting headlamp hoods on. As a purist I am trying to keep this car as original as possible.

A purist? Just like me then ;-)Jimothey wrote:Close, but still no. it's a 1957 Bond Minicar Mk. D 2/3 Seater De-Luxe. not to detract from your lovely motor, I link a pic of what it should look like.

Would that be the same Bond company that made the Bond Bug in the 70's?
Hemlok
Close. Bond were taken over by Reliant by that point. I would love a Bug, now that's a car I have plans for, I have my nice original Minicar, and I'll have the "Orange Goblin" working on rear artwork amalgamating the metal band Orange Goblin's logo with Wytchwood's Hobgoblin Beer mascot. And just to fuck with everyone I'ma put a Transformer's logo on the front. now comes the difficult task of choosing Autobot or Decepticon. hehe.Toxic wrote:A purist? Just like me then ;-)

There will be a few other tweaks for it, but I'll need to have the car first.

Reliant! The Robin... three pin plugs! A strong wind and they were over ;-)Jimothey wrote:Toxic wrote:A purist? Just like me then ;-)

I thought the Kitten was quite funky at the time, and it had an extra wheel! And the Fox was so good that Volkswagen have now named a car after it ;-)
I was listening to Quincy the Pig Boy earlier :-D
Decepticon all the way! :-P

Yep. The very same. Although the Bug's styling was far superior.Toxic wrote:Reliant! The Robin... three pin plugs! A strong wind and they were over ;-)

If could have afforded it, I would have pledged 10,000 to get the Bug in game.
Back in the day I drew up concept ideas or it, 'wedge of cheese' shape was perfect to have a blade attached at the front and at the back would have had a rather intricate exhaust system that looked like the 'rock hands' ( \m/) The driver was 'Old Bugger' who had joined Carmageddon to seek vengeance on MAx Damage who ran over his wife, who was in the war.. or something like that, I'm trying to remember al this from 15 odd years ago. I would link the concepts, but this was in the times before scanners and the bits of paper are packed away somewhere, or my lovely lady friend thought they were rubbish and thew them away.

She'd never have done that!Jimothey wrote:If could have afforded it, I would have pledged 10,000 to get the Bug in game.

Ah, the days before scanners :-P

You have no idea of the amount of swearing that went on while welding them... it's so much fun to get something positioned exactly where you want it only for it to move the second the welder goes near it! :-P
And fitting them was fun. Standard Beetle mirrors just screw in to a threaded hole in the door, these had to go through that hole and have a nut put on the other side... the gap is very narrow and the hole is a long way up, my arms look like they belong to an emo kid ;-)

I'm not sure exactly how long it took in total, but I welded one together in an evening and the second one the next evening, then it was just a matter of waiting for the paint to dry... it probably took less time to make them as it did to fit and adjust them ;-)SpookyMunky wrote:Oo.. loving the wing mirror dude :), how long did it take ? if ya dont mind me asking. Rest of the car looks sufficiently badass aswell hehe.. very cool :)
