Edumacation time!

Post by Beast »

A simple test, check if you know the difference between you're, your, there, their, they're, its, it's and so on.

I scored 10/10, and english is NOT my first language.

10 out of 10, but questions 4 and 10 are fucked up - nobody would ever say that ;P

This test is bullshit. How in the hell does macacom get a 10 out of 10 score??

Sir monkey, I'm concerned about your opinion of those statements. Particularly #4, and your doubt of its being a very natural, common and un-convoluted way of wording a statement?!

10/10, by the way.

Maybe JP should take a gander at this 'un? Or I am I just asking for it now? :B

The test is made MUCH easier by the hints and grammar rules before each group of questions. Had the rules not been there, it would be much harder.

10/10 right.

It amazes me just how many Americans I've seen-for whom English is their only language-cannot for the life of them figure out the proper usage of these words. Go figure. It's gotta be either laziness or just lack of giving a shit how dumb they sound to others.

#4 would normally be worded as "His fear of a very long season seemed contagious."-without the words "its being." The way it's worded in the test is more likely the "proper" English way to say it.

Same with #10. It's uncommon for that kind of sentence to be worded that way. Usually it would be "These students have a poor attendance record. I'm worried about them being absent during next week's exams." Again, on the test it's probably the "proper" way to say it, but it's a seldom used way these days.
