In the past we've had a couple of post about which car does everyone of us own, now on to something different... which was the first car you ever drove??? I mean REAL road driving, not the times when someone taught you how to start and move a car...oh and the car on which you made your practices at the driving school doesn't count either.

In my case... it was a Citroën BX quite similar to this one:

I believe it was an 81-83 Chevrolet Celebrity, a white one.

I think it was a Toyota Tacoma. dont remember what year. slightly newer 2 seater.

My parent's '93 Ford Sierra 1.7TD. Lovely car it was, shame we sold it though.

Got it as a "Gift" from my dad for my 17th Birthday. I put gift in quotations because I had to pay him back for the car.

A rental car actually, funny... it was back when you could still rent a AMC Eagle... and that was it, a Blue one.

This one is the closest I get to "real road driving". I drove it on the road, yes. We used it to pickup poles around a field we had horses in. And yes, drove it a bit here and there. Loved that car. Still do. We got it still in a garage for restoration. My uncle got one too, from another year. Can't remember whar year though.

But here it is. A '86 Silverado

My first car was a Sea Blue 1966 1300 Beetle which I bought for 500 bucks from the drunk directly across the street from me. Once it was paid for, I rolled it across the street and had it running that very same day. Over 30 cars later and that car is still on the road. It looked exactly like this:

I learned to drive and drove as my first car a 1986 Dodge Lancer. 2.2L I4 with no power. It wouldn't even spin the tires in the rain! I hated that car. My parents bought it used and it already had a shitload of miles on it. We put in a rebuilt engine after the block cracked and it still ran like shit. It was very tempermental in the winter and wouldn't start most of the time unless I pumped the pedal (it was EFI so that still puzzles me). I finally traded it in for my current car.

These are the only pictures I have of it. It was taken after I had traded it in. I ran a Carfax on it recently and it showed that it's registered with a salvage title an hour's drive away.

And like The Bollocks, this one also got that paint problem...i think he selled it to his father "in law" and now he owns a Ford Mondeo



Didnt drove that one (yet)

For myself it was a Monza similar to the one Econobrick built. The biggest dfference was that mine had a but of customization done to it & needed some body work. Otherwise it was exactly the same. Even down to the paint color!

I find it very bizarre that a lot of your first cars were estates/station wagons... Is that the "done thing" over in America? Atleast - big cars, anyway

Wagons? i think its cause we stole our parents cars or somthin.. but hey alot of moms drive suvs now.. like the trailblazer we rented 2005 cool car.. 2 weeks on vacation with it better than the heap-o-shit .. and they make me wash it.. sponge sticks to the matt blue paint .. x.x

OK, can't count the driver's ed. car...(which was a '78 Ford Pinto that stalled if you turned the wheels too hard left and the horn honked when ya turned 'em too far right.).

The first car I ever actually put any serious mileage on was a 1970 Dodge Coronet wagon the same color as this one 'cept mine had the woodgrain decals on it.





I was working at a car wash and the owner was clearing some land next to the place and said I could have the car if I could get it running and drive it out. Trouble was he'd lost the keys.

Took the steering wheel off, destroyed the ignition switch and lock rings and found the three wires I needed. Put it all back together and after some fresh gasoline and a booster charge on the battery, the car fired up and dug itself out of the hole it was in and carried me around illegally for almost a year.

I hate SUVs. It scares me to see such small girls tooling around in huge trucks and SUVs. When I drove my Uncle's pickup ('86 Dodge Ram 150), there were huge blindspots in front and behind the truck. I can't imagine a smaller person with less experience to handle a huge, tall vehicle like that. Long live the station wagon!

Damn right! Station wagons/estates kick ass! I'm looking to buy an Opel Vectra/Ford Escort estate next, once I get a bit more money. Need a bit more space, and the Micra just isn't cutting it.

lol, DB... 1st Dodge I ever tried to wire... god damn, I was used to the simple Chevy red, pink, tap purple (or yellow sometimes)

1st time I looked under a dodge's coloum (dart custom) theres over 20 freaking wires... Might have been that as it was custom, he had electric everything, but jesus... that took like half an hour, and apparently the black wire is the horn Got it running, with no lights whatsoever, not even brake lights, needless to say I couldent take it far like that... not to mention it stalled every 2 blocks. I don't think I'd completed the circut right, so Id rev the fuck out of it to keep the engine going... anyways, yeah.

Yayus, even nowadays, it pays to actually have the keys for a Dodge.
