SoCal Cruisers ABS fender skirts, PT Bob rolled visor, Revell chrome smoothies w/baby moons...
She still needs a few little things like some carefully placed chrome trim strips and some chrome bumpers. But not too bad so far, eh?
These cars ya either love 'em or hate 'em-I'm one of the former.

Honestly, I never really was a fan of those cars, but that car really catches the 1950's very well, looks retro!

That would look badass as a chop-top or a pickup
Nice one DB - nice to see that modifications which take the car in the non-rice direction do actually exist!

Thats a righteous cruiser you got there. DB? Do you have some kind of crazy superhero job or something (aside from driving the bus) that pays like a zillion bucks per hour? If not, how the hell do you afford so much precious metal!?

I like it, but without the wheel skirt I'd like it even more!

looks great db, but if your going to get chrome bumpers I think you need a new colour for the body, maybe an orange like the one you did for the fleetwood.

is that a frenched antenna? or is my vision bothering me? It looks great! The white walls definately are working for me.
Maybe add some side pipes? I would ditch the roof rack thing. Maybe add some nicer rear veiw mirrors and dummy spot lights? I love it tho, It is one of the best pt's that i have seen.
It would be really cool if they made a 2 door pannel wagon modle, it would give it the most old skool look you could get

See, I knew it. Those Cruiser have potential.
Keep that shit up and I'm pretty sure Brian Setzer will come knockin for a trade.
Hey, is that SoCal as in SoCalCustoms? Coz I have some really cool pix of customs they did, they're good.

Heh, I wouldn't trade it for that hot-rodded one.
That's one hell of a sweet ride you got there DB. Living proof that one can customize cars in a classy way without turning them into chrismas trees.
I like particularly the rims and the rear skirts, amazing how classic it does look like... one suggestion, ever thought of giving it a paintjob? methinks that with the chrome bumpers and some red paint that car would be cooler, if possible

Re: For those interested...DB's Cali-Cruiser (so far)
Thanx fer th' comments, everybody.
It's a 2002. The parts so far have cost roughly $1800. The silver color, I like because many of the true oldies I've seen were that color. The '49 Plymouth I used to own was silver.
That's what I'm thinkin' this car is vaguely starting to resemble...a cross between an old Chrysler Windsor and a '39 Plymouth, with a tad bit of '34 Ford thrown in around the grille.
PTM, I'm gonna be paying for this car for the next 5 years. I reckon it should look like I want it to, eh? No, really...My great-aunt Margaret (Never knew her) died recently and because my grandmother is also deceased, as is my mother-thru trickle-down economics-Maggie left me $11,000 smackeroos.....so I figured I'd take a chunk of it and customize the bike and the car some and put the rest away for rainy days and car payments.
As far as the paintjob goes, I really like the silver. It's kinda mellow. I don't wanna drive a Klown Kar, even tho it is unusual. I wanted it to look clean and kinda....."stately", I guess is the word...
She makes 'er point when she's gliding out of a parking lot.
I'm still toying with ideas for chrome and whatnot:
I kinda like this idea but without the chrome doodads between the side windows.
The side windows are s'posed to look like one big window an' I don't wanna screw with that.
Gotta find me some sel-adhesive chrome trim......yayus.... The roof rack is coming off..just haven't gotten around to it.
The auxiliary lights under the bumper are the stock fog lights. They're all pretty bright.
AdR: I'm thinking of a chrome accent trim for the original grille. There's aftermarket grilles out there that make it look like a '40 Ford-including a whole new nose and fenders-that I can't really afford-but I don't want it to look like a Ford-I kinda like the PT nose.
Nice thing is I can take off the skirts and put the stock wheels back on for the winter (so they don't get all buggered up). The Visor's gotta stay, tho. It's el permanente.
There's sidepipes (functional) made for this car, but they're illegal for cars in my state. I'd sure like a set, tho.

Ah! Thanky. Found the chrome trim kit I've been looking for.
Might be cheaper to make my own, tho.

Re: For those interested...DB's Cali-Cruiser (so far)
Dammit, how could I have missed this?
Looks very nice D_B, very clean. Only thing I'd look into is some sort of headlight conversion. The stock PT Cruiser headlights look somewhat out of place.
Otherwise, dead sexy.

Yup. They fit the fenders, though. I'm keepin' ma eyes peeled for some conversions that don't require different buckets.
The ones I've seen so far are just visor-like covers and another mod that involves changing the whole nose to look like a '40 Ford, which I don't really wanna do 'cause it isn't.
Not many choices out there yet.

Re: For those interested...DB's Cali-Cruiser (so far)
chop it about 6 inches
channel it about 4 inches
ditch the remaining trim
fill in back windows with pannels to make a pannel van, and weld up the rear doors, then smooth it all out to make a nomad kinda look
paint it all flat black
just a thought
