Hmm well I havent played c1 since.. well since I got c2. I guess i saw no point in playing it anymore after that, as c2 had everything that I dreamed off - smashable cars with detachable parts! Although lately ive been thinking of trying c1 out again.. nostalgia I guess. Plus Back then i was never able to use add on cars or anything cause I didnt know how to install em, or for some reason all my data .txt files were encrypted if I remember correctly. Come to think of it I believed i chucked my c1 disc out anyways.

Anywho what skin does adrs voyager have on your convert? Is it that lovely white dirty junk one? Thats on of my all time favorite c2 cars, its so perfect and Ive never seen such a great skin, adr was sure' as they say 'in the zone' on that day.

I'm interested. I just did a fresh reinstall and am looking to spice it up!

I would... If I had C1... Last year I borrowed a copy from a friend of mine (That's how I was able to make my conversions) and I tried to add some new C1 cars, but it made the game crash... So... If I had C1 again and was able to use addon cars without it crashing I would play it again!

I d/led it from Kazza (Lite). Boy those graphics are blocky!! Any way to sort that out at all?

stangely enough, C1 runs slower than C2! I'm interested in new cars etc. too

As for making the graphics better, well if I remember correctly, isnt it a -hires in the command path ? or something along those lines.. create a shortcut from the main carma.exe say to your desktop, right click on the shortcut and choose properties, then under Target add the -hires @ the end of the path.. that will give you hires graphics

Yeah, it's "Hires" (Hires.bat) -not a switch.

Graphics are a bit sharper but still 8-bit color depth.

Yeah, Soup...Mine crashed a lot, too!

Then I fixed it so it wouldn't crash-but the cars were stuck in the ground and the wheels did all kindsa crazy shit.

Then I got the idea to have a chat with Carlo Fiorini-the guy that put his Alfa 75 in C1 and made that nifty lil' .asc2dat proggy.

Dude answered alla my questions and I found out that it was way easier than I thought!

Now anything fits in C1-and it doesn't care about polys.

After seein' the C2 Towmeister ya made-it'd be nice to see what kinda stuff ya can put into C1

Which reminds me-I just gotta convert Andy's BMW Z3 to C1. He's been a rock-steady member of Weird and Gearley's Garage since '99 or 2000...Time for a tribute.

I still play C1. I still believe that this is the best of the Carmageddon games.

The Hires mode is also a switch! When you start it up from dos you just type: carma -hires. Easy, simple and you get better graphics

oh, I have XP. Perhaps that's why it doesn't work!

It'll work. Sometimes I've found I have to edit the batch file so the intro movie doesn't run and then it'll work.

The readme file tells ya about configuring the switches.

I actually got it to run on a pos laptop with very little memory this way (-lomem switch mebbe? I disremember).

Ya just gotta frig with it.

All i can say is: WOW!

I didn't know people figured out how C1 cars worked and could actually make new ones! It's great to see deep_blue is busy making and converting cars for it! By all means do release them! I absolutely love C1 it was the best game in the series! I cannot forget that dark atmosphere which only got lost the further the series was developped!

Just to let you know, D_B, there is definitely interest in these cars from my part! As soon as i can sort out my second computer i will install a dual boot with win 95 to run C1 again

As for the shitty graphics: it's part of the game's atmosphere

You can either run "carma.exe -hires" which makes it 640x480 (hi res at the time), or you can install the 3DFX patch if you have a Voodoo 1 (i still have mine lying around somewhere). Don't think a Glide wrapper will work as it's a DOS based game. I know the 3DFX patch had very good graphics. All the blocky stuff was smoothed out nicely.

i would play if had it but im stuck with c2 i dont complain oh yes in one the those screenshots there was a picture of a school bus well i dont know if it was from c2 but if it was where can i get it

all of those screenies are for c1...

there are a couple of 'schoolbuses' of c2 though, both over at Planet Maim

You'll find em in the c2 cars section, under 'Super Bus' and 'Skool Bus'

Heya Matt...You've been here a long time-think mebbe ya could direct me to somebody who might understand how Carma 1 crush datas work? That's the only problem Econo and I had with C1 cars..They turn into origami when they get hit.

If I could find out what those numbers mean-I could fix this problem.

I was thinking what about mailing Stainless? If someone should know it would be them.

Also I think they would be glad to know, that people still play the game. I believe they would be happy to help, since the game is sorta thier "baby"
