For lack of a better term.... we are gonna call yesterday, Black Monday. All in one shot, Almost every major Caramgeddon Website went down. DTD is still not back up, the CWA board is down, CarmaDump is down... Who knows what else. I dunno what happened, but if any of you can shed some light on it, we all would love to hear it.

BTW... LOD was down for a few days cos of a dns failure(failure of me to pay for the name). That is all done now... So we are back.

I caught wind that Polygonized was hacked so they shut the server down, apperantly Boose is supposed to have asked for a new OS on the server, but I just heard that chatting on IRC, nothing solid.

Well... at least I got had enough time to get Carmadump off of it in tact.... So Hopefully when it does come back up, he will allow space for it.

I am pretty sure when you hack into a site, you are doing it for only a couple of reasons... the most would be to use the site for your own personal space. Most hackers do that. Few go in to destroy data. Though, if that happened, then it would all be pretty much lost.

This does prompt me to make backups of LOD monthly... maybe weekly..

Polygonized

The Server was hacked about 2 weeks ago, late sunday night, they took down the system files, because they were system files there is nothing the admins (boose / elendal) can do with it, as it needs a fresh clean reinstall of the O/S Linux by there suppliers, obivously this costs, and because boose is far to generous and doesnt charge for hosting, he aint got any cash to pay for this, originally the HDD was on its way out, due to the fact of alot of downtime etc, the hacker just finished it off

I personally have another server, its deciated box, running linux,very very fast & reliable, I have already moved my sites that where previously hosted with Polygonized to my new server, and so far so good, I have offered to host CWAboard on my new box, bandwidth isnt a issue, I have lots and I mean lots of it, although things like the www.cwaboard.com are still pointing to polygonized


The Future....

Well obivously I cant say for sure if polygonized will arise from the dead, but personally i cant see boose paying for something 100$ monthly and not seeing anything back from it, its pointless, watch this space though

I did manage to backup the a good amount of polygonized before it died, 10GB, the sites I managed to save where:- Wasted / DTD / CWAboard / CarmaDump / All my Junkie Sites

Hope this clears some stuff up, once i hear anything from either boose / elendal I will let you know

Very cool.... Was wondering what all that was about. So is the CWA board coming back? It would be nice to have the old site back up and running. Course, I wouldn't want to pay that much a month for a site either. LOD runs on 800 mb of space and 20 or so gb of bandwidth. We will never see that... but I would not want to host something CWA as it's transfer is probably up there.

Boose was paying $100 monthly for the whole server not just one site, so its worth it I suppose, but not if he isnt making any revenue from it

Obivously all the domains are pointing to Poly Server, so the DNS would need changing if I was to host them... really I need to speak with boose but hes never online these days, and elendal hasnt been online server black monday am like piggy in the middle @ the minute

About the fact that CWA is back :
That's really good for the C2 community which is 9/10 of the total CWA
members, but nothing really changes for TDR community.
I play C2, mainly for new super add-on cars, but nothing more (maybe
the beaver forest level also ). TDR is much more interesting for me.
Due to the fact that there isn't many sites about stuff for TDR, this LoD3D forum could be concidered as a TDR forum, or at least the most TDR-like forum (y'see what I mean?). Besides, in this forum, I think there will be more things and interesting topics I'm looking for.
There is a CGTalk feel around here... Or artistic something... interest...

I think we are the main TDR site now anyways since we dont deal with C2 at all anymore. So imo if the TDR community wants TDR forum they can come to us, why should we chase them around?
