Digging into old stuff for rips and goodies as mentioned in my recent truck topic i happened to find a few screenshots of it (i had much more), survived by mere coincidence. (lone ago were accidentally copied to the "assorted reference pictures" folder either for models ideas or texture bases)
as far i can remember, i never shown any of them because i desired to surprise you with the playable demo it never came to be. i only teased the car i guess?

(back then we had no sonic all stars racing series, so i wanted it to be a sequel of the Game Gear games)

i was working on some nice stuff for it. here some i remember:
"settings" button in interface was removed by hexedit to prevent accidental YON defaulting (you know, you set it to 90 from game file and then the game resets it to 40 or whatever if accessing that submenu)
it was supposed to be later implemented into the game launcher, like TDR2000 graphic settings.
car selection artwork was much bigger and simplified, no more splitten in a bunch of 32x32 tiffs. just two 256x128 halves.
Driver mugshot was a much nicer 128x128 as shown.
if memory serves me right, by hexedits i had some sort of success implementing an 11th race group glitched as shit. i think it simply rolled back to group 1 twice or something like that. Take it as a brainfart though, maybe i'm just distorting things..
still by hexedits(i think?) I was able to get some interface graphics (buttons, cursor) to display at twice the resolution (an eyecandy to fit 1280x960 from wrappers), normally if you simply put a 2x sized tiff, game will only show the top-left quarter of them. On the other hand, once edited, if you kept the original sized tiffs they tiled 4 times instead! (i'm talking of GUI stuff, not in-game textures of course!) Car damage also fucks up its layout if you simply put a 2x tiff. not sure if i actually fixed that but i remember so..?
Some .mat form the game are missing perspective correction (can't remember how it's called from PT2) and filtering, like tyres marks. if you import them in PT2 and thick those it actually works in game.
same goes for the skybox material if i remember right (you can see it on castor city sky tiff with distorted skycrapers, at least it did from zenshack wrapper on my old machine, stock .mat seems fine on nGlide, weird.) i think you can actually do the opposite ad set skybox unfiltered like the earliest C2 demo. you can even sphere map it
there's probably more but that's as far as i can remember!
