One for the Hicks.
One for the Hicks.
Wellp... I liked Deep Blues Rack Body Pickup he was working on (still is, but who knows if It'll ever get done (;, actually I was supposed to take over and finish it, till I noticed the amount of holes in the converted model) Well, I wanted to make one as well, As it should make a pretty fun car destruction-wise (thats what we need!). After looking around at various pickups I decided this one would look best with a rack.. 66 Ford F100.. I innitially wanted to throw it on a newerish truck, but it woulda looked weird, probably. I'll probably throw some Toxic waste barrels on the back and put a lil company name on the side.. ehhhghh.. "Ralphs Dumping Co'" or what have you. Gonna need to rust up the chassis.

top high
cab proportion to work

Re: One for the Hicks.
Here is a side shot, I think the top is right height, actualy If I lower the roof down it throws the skin off.. the cab was too short which I noticed, so I corrected it, that probably made it look higher, along with some of the angles of those photos, and the fact the hood was off in one.
Re: One for the Hicks.
now THAT is one hick-pickup.
let's start pumpin' the pedal allready
sweet stuff definately.
btw i'm a bit of a fan of your models (duhh, who aint)

Nice re-cab onnat sucker, auto! Tis a wee bitty bit too high a roofline, tho. Ya gotta make sure that the seats are all ripped up and there's a bag o' pork rinds onna dash when ya get the interior in.
Make Billy Ray Jeeter the driver, wouldya?

Why don't you just use plaything to move the vertices? It would keep the mapping boundaries.
The problem w/ phototextures is, they usually have some perspective built into them, unless you edit the images themselves(or they were taken w/ a telelens from 200 yds, but who does THAT? ).
Anyway, it looks VERY nice, I was yearning for such a vehicle lately!
Re: One for the Hicks.
Deeb Blue; Actually everything is scratch made other than the wheels, which I jipped off from myself.. the aerostar, Ripped seats? no problemo there! Whom is Billy Ray Jeeter, does he have a pig? Maybe there could be a pig passenger, too. Of course talk about poly wastin'
Small Block; Mebbe! How would one perform such a function?

Re: One for the Hicks.
First, you can only move vertices in one object at a time, which isn't really a problem since you can zoom to a completely silly high factor to align neighboring edges. You can't move them by precise numbers like in cared, you have to do it w/ the mouse(again, zooming in makes that acceptable).
Exploding the car first is recommended, just to make sure you select vertices on the right object.
Just hit the "vertice mode" icon(3rd row, 3rd column in the pad), the select the crosshair cursor to select what you want. You can do a "lasso" selection, which would be better in this case, since you can never know if there's more than 1 vertice in 1 position(if you just click on the faces' edge, you run the risk of having triangles separate at that point, which sucks). Get out of crosshair mode and you can move your selection by a continuous left-click and mouse motion. Repeat as necessary.
Edit: make sure you NEVER select a vertice more than once(only possible w/ lasso select), else you get completely crazy, uncontrollable motion that'll make your car look like some fractal experiment when trying to move it/them!

Ahoy! It appears to be fine sea-worthy vessel! 5193 polys you say? My current project (yes, there is one!) is 5129! very close! (what is that particular item? A Nineteen Seventy-Four Volkswagen four-twelve wagon.)
Don't forget to add the rear leaf springs?!

still needing: front window frame, front window, dash, steering wheel, floor, driver.. leaf springs (thanks econo)... eeeek. I suppose I can skip some stuff like the mirrors, muffler.

Re: One for the Hicks.
Why not put bails of hay in the back instead? They can be detachable and such??

Re: One for the Hicks.
Agreed! (suprise?!) Hay would "bee" better in my opinion! Toxic waste seems...corny in a way!
If you're trying to be 'different' try something like a bunch of pies in the back! Pies or Hay! Or Pies AND Hay!! I just blew my mind?!!

Re: One for the Hicks.
Pies made of Hay?!?! It should also be driven by some sort of lobster-like creature named Bill!!
Re: One for the Hicks.
Pies! You know I like that idea.. gee I dont know, I already made some barrels, you like? they are all dented and such
Re: One for the Hicks.
They're very good! I just thought it looked like an old farm truck, which I usually see with bails of hay and crap in the back! Just my opinion, oh and of course pies!

Put Bubba And Leonard Sitting On Them In The Back Of The Truck ?
Re: One for the Hicks.
Well shes all done.. cept for deciding what goes on the back.. but with the 2 barrels there, steering wheel and driver modelled, the polycount sits at 6724... making it my highest yet.. but certainly not my nicest looking!
