Hmmm, yeah... I'm making a car: 1985 Monte Carlo
It started originally as a project for a mod for the game "Nascar Heat", I'm modelling the 1984 season cars, wich are, apart from this one, a Buick Regal, a Ford Thunderbird and a Pontiac Grand Prix. Might make the street versions of each one for C2 also, but for now, here's a preview of the Monte:
http://dtd.joypadjunkies.com/AdR/prevst ... eWIP_1.jpg
Trying to keep stuff as simple as I can, I'm keeping the polycount below 5,5k this time and i'm @ about 3,5k and as far as modelling goes, only the interior it's left to work on... Nothing I really care about anyway, since I mostly play C2 in software mode , but since there's always someone who asks "what's the polycount on that", there ya go.
It's been a while since I posted my last preview here, so I'm expecting some feedback... maybe... or maybe not?... whatever

Wow!
Will u make a nascar version of that one too?
I just remember that one of my first 3d games i ever played was with a green-yellow colored monty stock car with maybe 10 polies or somethin like that ... i don't remember the name of that game cuz i was very young and my father let me play it on his pc in that time... maybe someone else knows what the hell i am talkin bout...
Anyways, enough of MCF's history, keep the good stuff up, AdR !

monte carlo is a great car. can't wait to see it ingame.
Re: Hmmm, yeah... I'm making a car: 1985 Monte Carlo
C2 software mode? Yuk! But I remember a time I had to use that, years ago!
Car is looking fine, always wanted a mid 80s G-body, still love the cutlass more though, but this will do!

Thanks for the comments!
@MCF: Yeah, the nascar version is on the works, not for C2 though.
@AWD: Polymodelled as usual, yep.
@Buzz: Thanks for being so honest
@Autopilot: The good thing about software mode is that I can play with a lot of opponents without any frame rate, polycount or textures problems... that means: more fun!

Done some progress on it, geometry about 93% done, 4211 polygons at the moment.

Re: Hmmm, yeah... I'm making a car: 1985 Monte Carlo
your sure taking your sweet time
Re: Hmmm, yeah... I'm making a car: 1985 Monte Carlo
It's flawless! Are you gonna make the front fascia come off as a whole leaving the headlights in place?
Re: Hmmm, yeah... I'm making a car: 1985 Monte Carlo
Teaser:
Left to do: texturing the interior and getting it in game.
A couple of quick renders with some parts detached here.
Oh, btw, the front fascia does comes off as one part.

K, one last preview before getting it in game:
http://dtd.joypadjunkies.com/AdR/prevstuff/monte_01.jpg
it's not final, gotta add the emblems and fix the distance between the front wheel arc and the door, wich should be the half of what it actually is , and I might even add a full frame to it, since the polycount it's 4741, so I won't be exceeding my budget this time

Re: Hmmm, yeah... I'm making a car: 1985 Monte Carlo
I finally got it done! made some renders of it, just click on the pic to see more:
Some of the changes that I've made are the new optional SS alloy rims and a full frame (that one's for you, Small Block!), I also fixed the door thing.
All there's left to do is to get it through bemax, pt2 and finally into the game, after doing all the "paperwork" (as DB says ), wich is the most boring part
