To make a material able to be driven through you add a ! to the name i.e. !bush. But that's also what you do to make water.
I think it's because you hit the bushes at a angle on the hill instead of straight on. Nothing I can do about that.
They are juicy plants. Good to know if you're stranded in the desert. Fact.

I don't know what the building on the edge of Silverton is but it looked like a country general store so I put some gas pumps out front.

I wanted to test a small smashable before I dive into refinery, turning all the pieces and parts into exploding bits. I guess I keep feeling like we will hit a wall some at some point. But so far so good. Put pumps in different locations and working fine!

I think that building was where the war memorial museum is IRL.

Awesome test kaboom!

Hope all keeps working!

Sent ya a gum tree pic with call out for static gyro (If my text description wasn't clear.)

I'd say the map model is a done deal! Very nice!!! (10x) YESSSSSS!

Hehe. Too funny. You'll have to teach me your trick for getting the bike to lean. Might not be possible with drones. Their paperwork is very basic.

The bikes don't lean so much as they're always falling over.
Bike trick puts all wheels inline, center of mass well below ground (like the bottom heavy duck), and narrow Bbox. (Only goes down to just below axle height to keep it up high and keep wheels inside shapes) I used to angle the bottom of the bbox up some to give it clearance to lean. But if ya can't-make it run like a car...I don't think it'll matter much anyway how it works as long as it's going by..

Here's the other one...on the way.

Do you guys actually have a to-do list or are you going to improve this monster till the end of time?
Good looking Landau there D_B, wouldn't mind bringing it to C1 once you'll be done with the whole mod :)

As far as I know Tosh, Coffey's got a to-do list as he's doing all the setup...These drones were my idea. I figured there were two in the air already, two on the ground might be nice, also. Coffey inspired 'em with his Harley post.

I think I'm pretty much done dreaming up stuff-I'm itchin' to play the finished product myself but I couldn't resist. Dunno if he can or wants to use these ingame or not-and it's OK either way with me, but they hadda be made.

PM me an addy, I'll send ya the FrankenUte and the Landau.

Yeah, I want to wrap this up too. We did come up with a lot of additional things like custom drones and peds. But I can't think of anything else to add.

Unfortunately this weekend I won't have a lot of time to mess with this. Last week I had the house to myself and got a lot done.

Still to do:
Exploding Refinery
Add noncar signs and props
Opponent path
Drone paths
Material modifiers

So there's not that much left for work. A week or so?

Need to think about gate. It needs to be movable like platform and destroyed/removed during explosion. I hope that's possible.

Worked on some drone paths instead of refinery like I was supposed to.

Nice! Very nice!

That map looks better every time I see it.

Um.. Gate 'remove' as in 'not use as moveable gate' or 'remove' as in 'just goes bye-bye during explosion/refinery model swap?'

Remove during explosion. I just don't know if it can be explosive AND movable

Ah. Try and see?

If it can't be both I suppose it's not a huge loss if we can't drive into the refinery. We'll have fun blowing it up anyway.

Hope it works like ya planned, tho.

Dude, that plane looks fookin' awesome ingame.

I'll figure something out for the refinery. I'm gonna start busting it up into smaller parts tonight.

Ok, this really weird thing happened with Fraps where it would not work with C2. No screenshots or movies. At Mastro's suggestion, I tried 'ZD Soft Game Recorder' which did take screenshots, but not movies. It just created a 1KB empty .AVI file.

Then last night this thought went through my head 'What if installing Soft Game Recorder also fixed Fraps?' Then I immediately thought, that's a riduclous idea. But you know what?
It did fix it!

Without giving too much away, here's a teaser video.

Nice!!

Awesome explodables!

I also tried the demo of Game Recorder..It went slow as all get out and did pretty much what yours did with the .avi

After uninstalling it Fraps worked *once* in C2. It went slow also.. Maybe I don't quite have the video accelerator to run it well....

Lookin' good, man!

I kept a copy of that video........for posterity.

Haha, ya that is me screwing around with GarageBand on my iPad. I arrange a bunch of supplied loops and then maybe use the virtual instruments to play on top of it all.
I'll make a folder and upload a couple.

hey, look what shows up on page 2 of a Google search if you type in "Mad Max 2 refinery"

Well that sounded great :)
I understand this must come in handy to add background music to your videos.

Econo did a lot of MIDI songs too, I see a good bunch of them on the server.
The whole lot (including his friend's midis too) is available at SubPar Deluxe.
If you or anyone likes Midi stuff, that is. I know I do :scool:

ha thanks. I got tired of having ads popping up on my videos because of the track I was using. For a while they were disabling the audio track if they thought a copyright violation was going on. I don't know which is worse.

Econo's got some neat stuff there. Sometimes midi is a little too 'Mario' for me, though I suppose what you're playing it back on makes a big difference.

A tractor trailer? You know you can't do a hinged trailer right?

UPDATE:
Made good progress on opponent paths. Am able to create a path in SketchUp by clicking down the middle of the road connecting the dots as I go. I can then export the path to get the coordinates and create an accurate path for the cars to follow.

I chased a group a cars around an entire loop to ensure everything was correct. I'm finding that I wish all cars had simple models (mine own included). With a map this big, having cars disappearing and reappearing in the distance as you chase them is odd. I ended up switching to the original SCI cars because I knew they'd all have simple model while I was testing out the path.

yeah, what Maxine did, and it's great concept, was both tractor cab AND the trailer are two separate cars. The trailer is actually a fully functioning opponent. That's how the trailer gets rolling wheels. At the start of the race you need to type the cheat to freeze opponents or your trailer will drive away or attack you.

We both tried the same idea but using drones for trailer, but I didn't have any luck. I guess Maxine didn't either. Other people can give it a try, if they want..

You could always try it with kev-o-flaps but it would only work like a door does, I'm fairly sure it's been tried before and didn't work out which I imagine it wouldn't.

Can we post trailer stuff in the appropriate thread?

There's a whole shitload of posts on attempts for trailers if you do a little searching. Do we need to rehash it here?

Nice! Much better. They're actually going somewhere now. :)

Is your YON still set at 700? I cranked mine up to 1000 and everything looks realistic (except for the disappearing cars w/o simple models). Gives me time to anticipate curves and stuff at high speeds and the perspective is about like real-life sight distance would be.

No worries, just want to keep the thread on topic if possible.

Small Update:
I finished the Opponent Paths. They'll follow all the major routes as well as a few side roads.
I also had a bunch of drone paths done too, unfortunately I accidently overwrote the drone paths. Stupid.

Still to do:
- Redo drone paths
- Setup new drones D_B made
- Exploding refinery
- Miscellaneous noncar props and signage
