'97 Crown Vic on the way...

Post by AdR »

Yup, here's what I've done so far with it:

http://dtd.niteshade.net/AdR/prevstuff/vic1.jpg

The pic was a bit large so I posted it as a link the police skin there is not finished, I was just fooling around and decided to make some quick renders with the skin on to see how it looks. I'll probably release three different versions of this car, instead of just changing the skins, since there are some important differences between the street, taxi and most important, the police car version. Oh, and what you see there has 2760 polys, with only the interior left to be made

hmmm.. i agree looks great as always, but how many Polys did the falcon end up? cause that was a lil too much for my taste, and im guesssing this car is much more. i can deal with one of them in the game, but if i wanted tons of cop cars.. not a chance.

well, the falcon ended with 6087 polys, wich is great considering that it has the usual detail, 3d engine and chassis. Besides, it runs great on my crappy pc with the other cars, so that's something

This one won't have a 3D engine, instead I'll use a pic like I did with some of my other cars, the Merc CL600 for example. This will allow me to keep the poly count hopefully way below 5000, while keeping a nice "eye candy" detail

jimmyz169: My card is a "little" old... Voodoo3 16mb PCI, I guess you can get one for around $20 or something like that.

Sweet, 20 bucks is real good i heard for a graphics card. I think I will get a newer one kind of but hopefully have the kind of graphics needed for your cars. Thanks and keep up the great work (don't know how many times i've said that one)

Decided to make some changes in the release schedule for the vic, instead of releasing the street version first, i'll finish the police car instead, and release it on 9/11 with a NYPD skin, like everyone knows, it'll be 1 year from the WTC tragedy (wow, 1 year!!, it feels like it happened yesterday to me).

Image

As you can see, it'll come with two different light bars (sirens) to choose from the Streethawk or the 6-light Vector. 'course, with animated texes and all Image I just need to finish all those devices that goes in the interior now...

AdR, I have a tip for ya: Bringing cop cars in the "Bload Brothers" Mission:

1) Open the opponent.txt in the data folder and look on which opponent number you installed it

2) Open the races.txt, scroll down till you see the bb mission. You'll see there 12 numbers. You can change one or more to the opponent number of the new police car (corresponding to your system performance)

With this, you don't have to replace the old cop car. Put this tutorial in your readme before releasing the crown vic cop version, please!

BTW: I'm also wondering where AdR has got all these tracks from!

Got it in game finally, with animated textures and all... just needs some minor adjustements. Also, I end up with a very accurate skin, thanks to all the help from the members at the CrownVic.net's forum

'course it's release will be this wednesday, so keep your eyes opened...

Copcar? Now we'll just have to wait for the new Cannonball Run.

Whatever, just don't forget the box of donuts... or make the trunk full of them.

Wait! Don't! I hate donuts!

Hey, not to nit-pick, but shouldn't the word "Police" like, right above the grille be reversed so you could read it in your mirrors? Or are ambulances the only emergency vehicles that do that? Either way, that is one SWEEEEEEEEEEEET-ass ride! Good good stuff, AdR. You rule. Keep ruling. Rule your ass off, man.

Yeah! Sorry man, got a pile of emails to reply to... I can be really lazy sometimes but I'll send you the stuff later this week.

WetDogx2, the word "police" goes exactly like that, not backwards, just look for some pics of NYPD cruisers, you'll see also, I decided to just use a good pic of the engine instead of modelling the whole thing first to keep the poly count down, but most important, since the engine is all covered with hoses and wires, it'll take a lot of useless polys to make it look right... that's what I usually do for modern cars.

I also like how you just skinned the engine in there (well done, too). 'Cuz modeling the engine, sure it looks great when you can finally see it, but to do that you have to seriously trash the car. Modeling the engine is just a lot of polys put into something that you can't even see half the time anyway. Looks great, but still kind of a waste. So thanks at the lower-poly count for these Fords, man. Don't stop rockin'.
