get rid of the explosions?

Post by swintendo »

Kinda bothered me for a long time now. Is it possible to remove that bad explosion animation whenever you waste a car? I'd just like to crush it and let it burn without that silly explosion involved. Thanks!

Yes i've installed carma2 AGAIN after i saw some old crash replays on youtube.

Couldn't you just change the images for the explosion to blank images?

There's probably a couple of ways to do it. Replace the PIX with blanks as you suggest, or maybe edit the animations settings themselves by removing the references to the PIX. Whatever Freddy did that seems to work just fine.

hmm yeah, replacing the images with blanks would mean that when you drive into a bomb there will be no explosion, the way you suggest would be a better way i think.

Wha? Right before I read this post I looked in the SoD \data\COMMON\boom\tiffrgb folder and saw the explosion TIFs still there. So then I looked and saw on the SoD general.txt you had changed the 'Wasted explosion settings', 'Percentage chance of car exploding' and 'Number of explosion groups' set all to zero and got rid of the animation references and said 'Oh that Freddy, he's a clever one'. That's not how you did it?

@Razor: Whatever way it happens I think you'd lose the explosion on the slaughter mortars

@ Freddy - Yeah, everythingjust blurs together after a while.

@ swintendo - you need to change the explosion setting inDATA/GENERAL.TXT

[font class="small">code:[/font]

////////////////////////////////////////

// WASTED EXPLOSION SETTINGS

0 // Percentage chance of car exploding

5400 // Sound ID

BOOM.PIX // Name of pixelmap file

1 // Number of explosion groups

1,1 // min count, max count

0,0 // min start delay, max start delay

0,0.25,0 // offset

0,0.1 // min x factor, max x factor

0,0.1 // min y factor, max y factor

0,0.1 // min z factor, max z factor

8,8 // min frame rate, max frame rate

15,15 // min scaling factor, max scaling factor

randomrotate // rotate mode

0 // number of frames

//////////////////////////////////////

But you will lose all explosion effects, like for the slaughter mortar

Now all you have to do is remove the explosion sound and you're good to go.
