Glide Wrapper Help

Post by BUSCUIT28 »

ive been toying with the glide wrapper and it doesnt make a lick of sence to me, ive got my game running smoother, but it runs very ugly. brown smog, and blurry textures everywhere. i also cant seem to get it to run in 1024x768. ive checked the readme, but it doesnt make much sence to me.

on a side note, could somone point me in the direction of a skinning tutorial? please?

Hey m8,

if you get your glide configuration screen looking something similar to this, and give it ago it should work, you might have to change the refresh rate to about 70 though (depends on your graphics card & monitor)

Am no good @ skinning m8 so cant help or point you too any tutorials, but am sure the peeps here will help you out

Making new skins for existing cars?

I don't think there's any tutorials on skinning, least I don't know of any.

Just open up the .tifs from the car's TIFFRGB folder in any image editor

like PhotoShop or Paint Shop Pro and start mucking around.

(delete the PIX16 folder to make sure you see your changes)

Since my good card died, I am also running it on a 9600XT

The main catch is setting C2 to run in compatability mode. I always forget because there are all of like 2 programs that the option actually helps.

Then set it to 1st run in 640x480 for testing purposes, that works, try hi-res and unselect the 640x480 option , yah?

Also, I think refresh rates have to match to work in Hi-Res

The orignal cars are in .TWT format.

You can get the unTWTed versions at Toxic Ragers templates page here

The Purple Piledriver is the CERBY.ZIP

rename your CERBY.TWT to something else

Make a new folder called CERBY in your CARS folder

and unzip the contents of CERBY.ZIP

into your new CERBY folder

uhh...yes? Hate to break it to you, Chuck, but that's how it looks for everyone! Different tracks have different fog colours...and alot of the newcity building textures are 32x32 to 64x64.

How did you expect it to look?

LOL, yes state of the art graphics circa 1998...wiggly horizon pix and all.

Not exactly XBox360's "Gears of War" in high-def, but we still love it.

huh...

well, im mostly concerned with draw distance, its non exsistant! in a recent topic about giant explosions, i saw a pic in the city with a huge draw distance

also, i finished my skin for the piledriver, but im too stupid on how to install it...i feel pathetic

if i skinned an add-on car, no prob, but these game cars are somthing else, its all hidden!

You have to set Yon in options.txt to something bigger to get that draw distance.

(this value is resetted when you open the in game options menu)

you can, also, while in-game, use the cheat code "LAPMYLOVEPUMP" (LQP,YLOVEPU,P in azerty).

If the code was typed correctly, you must have "Cheat code" or something like that on screen.

After that, type the F4 key and use the "6" key and "shift+6" combination to set the draw distance.

to quit the game, you have to go to the options menu and hit "quit"

so id have to reset my Yon every time? i guess i could just force the game to crash instead..

whats a safe Yon distance #?

or if i set the distance with F4&6, does it stay that way?
