Incredible but true, with the porting of the Reventon to C1 I noticed that this game created in 1994-1996 already supported multisubs and unwrapped uvw mapping !

So I decided to port 3 other C2 cars to Carmageddon 1 ! ...

TROU NOIR
[nmg]img205.imageshack.us/img205/139/trounoirfc2.jpg[/nmg]

RENAULT 5 TRASH
[nmg]img205.imageshack.us/img205/9830/r5tshfr1.jpg[/nmg]

FLESHOVL
[nmg]img138.imageshack.us/img138/5983/fleshovlyn1.jpg[/nmg]

They are all fully prepared for Carmageddon 1 and have been optimized some more.

You can download them in my gallery : Carmageddon C1 Cars.

Hello~

I'll probably do the PedBasher indeed ! Unsure about the Combine APC as it has a bit too much polies, but maybe I can sort that out.
I'm not interested in porting the Ural, probably too much polies as well and a way less interesting car if you see what I mean :uh:

I'll probably use the PedBasher to illustrate a MAX-to-C1 tutorial.

PEDBASHER

Funny how this car was actually from Carmageddon TDR2000, then ported to C2, and now C1 !
It comes with grooves, bonnet, simple model, interface, etc.
I optimized it a lot, cleaned ; also placed reflective windows.

Download here.

COMBINE APC

Another convertion to Carmageddon 1. The Combine APC from Half-Life² this time.
Massive poly reduction too, from like 6000~ to 1900~ triangles.
It has a simple model, bonnet, interface, reflective windows...

Crazy how these addon cars are lighter than images... this one is only 62kb !

I forgot to say that C1 also supports smoothing groups, even if it doesn't use it much (only for reflective areas and non textured models (such as simple models)).

Download here.

WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW
It's realy amazing for C1 fans!
seem's like it's time to create one big C1 mod via melding C1 + SplatPack and adding your perfect cars ;)

btw. Seem's like you are running C1 without 3Dfx wrapper. Why?

I think Hi-res is good enough though, Glidewrappers don't work really great with it, well not actually make things better~~

this is great stuff you are doing here, Tosh! It's just too bad I could never get C1 to work properly on my own computers. I haven't tried this one yet, but I doubt it.

@ dimzon : I don't need the glidewrapper as I think the normal 'hires' mode is sure enough. When the resolution increases the fact that there's few details in the models and in the textures makes it look too clean, empty, not really nice. Even in hires mode I sometime feel like it's too much.
I think that the lowres is part of the C1 attitude if you see what I mean~
Though I can understand that people prefer to run it through dgVoodoo or such :uh:

A friend had made a Meld pack which I lightened a bit afterward and uploaded on the FTP. Not sure that it could interest C1 fans as they probably already have such an installation, but it could be a good start to make a Custom C1 + SP Meld pack with addon cars and such. Too bad there isn't that much C1 cars, I just know about Econobrick, Coffeycup, Deep Blue, and the ones from Wasted.
And mine now :heh:

BTW if you guys find problems and such while testing them, don't hesitate to report it, I have the strange feeling that they are somehow not tested enough. Also I experience random crashes with addon cars, not sure if it's linked to the limited CRUSH DATA or else.

@ SHOTGUN : Have you tried DOSBox ? Or does the problem come from the installation ? Maybe the Meld pack could help you, just try if you want :

actually you can keep 640*480 (like -hires is) resolution but filtered textures looks much more sexy ;)

Econobrick's : https://crud.cwaboard.co.uk/c1cars.shtml
Coffeycup's and Cie : http://coffey.polygonized.com/C1add_on.html
Some from D_B : http://www.3dactionplanet.com/carmageddon/cars1.shtml
from a lot of people at Wasted : http://wasted.polygonized.com/downloads ... gory&id=25
Deep Blue's at TheSprayShop : http://thesprayshop.net/db/C1cars/ (html page isn't working anymore)

The principal problem is that most of them actually replace original cars :errr:
If we'd happen to make a C1 pack, it'd be good to make all these cars standalone and check if they all have a simple model, bonnet, interface pic, etc~

Thanks a lot Mastro ! And thanks for trying my cars :uho:

I'll fix these cars tomorrow.

EagleMK3 and EagleMK4 are coming for C1~

I actually have a lot of fun converting and making those cars for C1...
Dunno why... I might continue with a lot of cars. TTR's and other cool lowpoly cars from C2 or TDR.

[Thursday edit : folders fixed !]

Is this optimisation ?

[edit] I'm now done editing the model. I lowered the polycount from 4711 to... 742 triangles ! [/edit]

EAGLE MARK4

Yet more difficult :]
742 triangles. Bonnet. Simple model. Interface. Etc.

Download here.

@ Coffeycup : Indeed, manual poly reduction. Even if MAX eases the job a lot it's still a very good training.

These will be the next cars I'll convert to C1 as a pack.
They come from the now famous MaxArea Low Poly challenge #2.
Names of autor will be included as name of driver, etc.

They will be easy work as they are already lowpoly and mapped with one or two texture(s), which I've already resized to 256* (and they still look really fine for Carmageddon1).
Not sure when I'll be done with them all; I have a lot of work for school, etc.

Those Czech guys sure did a good work with these models, it's time for them to enter the world they were made for.

The countach is perfect for C1 since it doesn't have an interior

BMW 5 - BOURAK - BUGY - CHARGER EL DIABLO
SKODA FABIA - LADA NIVA - STEAMBO - VOLGA

And done...

Ok, as I thought I wouldn't have much time anymore with school etc., I decided to port them today.
How come it takes all this damn time, work, efforts and results in those fucking pathetic 100k-wannabe files ?!
:arr:

They include the usual features but the simple models: I used original ones instead to save time. No big deal though...
Some are really great, real pieces of low poly 3d art, like Steambo. Just too bad the Fabia and the BMW 5 suffered during the texture convertion to 8bit colors~

Please, report archive errors or missing stuff (nothing model related though), I haven't tested them~

Download them here.

@ Coffeycup: I'll try to port Steambo, Bourak and the Niva to C2 /someday/. adding an interior is not hard, it's just that I'll have to split Steambo's textures into smaller ones.

Also i want to thank TTR, coffeycup, Max, Econobrick for this great Eagle and many other people, who make general game in my life alive!

Thanks for testing them, guys~

@ hazardic : I had already noticed those gaps, but I think it's part of the model.
I did color checks before converting the textures so there shouldn't be any 0,0,0 RGB value, but I might be wrong, I'll check again.

I think that its something with model too - especialy left side. so i like this effect - but not when i can see rear side of a car :nyaha:
Unfortunately I can't start to use 3dmax, PT2 or CarEd due with problems with my system, so i can't try to fix this by myself

Hello~

I've checked both the model in MAX and the texture and it seems like there's no problem.
I guess I did something wrong in PT2 and deleted some polys or something went wrong during the ASE2ASC conversion !
Not sure I'll fond the time to fix this bug, it isnt that much visible uh ? :uho:
