Re: Aight. I'm supposed to know this stuff...

Ok, so I tried what you suggested in the cockpit text file (low res folder where I put it.) https://i.imgur.com/0qJPPGX.jpg There is still a stationary (doesn't move and doesn't match terrain (never changes) texture (in this case, the road/fence/wall of the track) underneath where I put the bike's h...

Ah. Sorry it took me so long to reply.
Thanks for the point in the right direction.
I have some time now that I'm on vacation so I'll dig into it and post the results and any remaining questions here.

Re: Aight. I'm supposed to know this stuff...

Got another question regarding C1 cockpit images. I've made exactly *one* before. This is my second attempt. I've made a motorbike that doesn't have any gauges or indicators of any kind. I only want a view over a handlebar. This is what I have so far: https://i.imgur.com/jmwkZHN.jpg I want to know h...

When I'm not sure if the crushing works properly, I use cheat codes to force it:
IBETYOUCANTPRINTCUNT typed during gameplay to enable the Edit Mode: Cheat
then SHIFT+4 to crush the model :ssmile:

OK, I just tried to force-crush a car I made and it *did not* deform at all.

Not even a crinkle.

Re: New C1 vehicles in progress

These vehicles all really look nice. How did you create the textures for the mad max vehicles? Just out of interest, why do you replace vehicles? Sometimes even one-off stuff like this 1956 Volga Ute that doesn't exist: https://i.imgur.com/r6FmsLc.jpg That is the beauty of making your own vehicles ...

Re: New C1 vehicles in progress

Yes, I was meaning to do the Red Bat also! Is it up on your site? I'd love to put that one in my game! All right. So then I'll keep working on C1 stuff. In between making vehicles I'm also looking at how Mastro makes C1 tracks. I've got a summer off coming up soon. Maybe I can get all these things f...

New C1 vehicles in progress

Anybody still play C1? Interested in new vehicles? I'm currently making new stuff for C1 again. Converting my C2 stuff over to C1. Re: Aight. I'm supposed to know this stuff...

OK... Here's a good one: (It's always something...) https://i.imgur.com/0BPpF4l.jpg You would think by the way this vehicle is behaving that the bbox is too narrow on the min side. But it isn't. it's ever so slightly off center (0,0 on he X-axis) but I built a physical box around the model and took ...

Ah! So I just need to rename the wheels in the actor file? Or do I need to rename them in the CarEd .obj and recompile? (Recompiling makes more sense). Re: Aight. I'm supposed to know this stuff...

OK I seem to have hit a snag again. I have remade this model and updated .dat, .mat, act, and .pix files numerous times because apparently there were too many components in the model. OK, that worked well.
You're right, SE doesn't need the ".MAT" extension after the material identifier in the mat file. In my old encrypted OEM game it did.

Re: Aight. I'm supposed to know this stuff...

Aye, thank ye for the corrections. Yes, I named all the files "APC" when I replaced the APC. The only thing that didn't work was the textures and of course my backwards BBox. I wrote the BBox coords down in a bit of a hurry. I should pay more attention to the details. As for the Overwrite/insert in ...

Yeah, I figured it was a toggle- albeit a sometimes defective one. Before I wiped everything out, I backed up my DATA folder so adding stuff back was just a matter of copying over and editing textfiles. I should remember how this works because I've done it before. So the Carname.txt in (in Mastro's ...

I do not want to interrupt anything, but i tried this a few days ago, and accidentally encrypted everything. How do you decrypt files (especially Cars.txt files) if the game does not want to work? Digging up an oldy here, but I thought it important enough to mapmakers that it was worth it.

found a neat plugin for Sketchup that uses templates to make several kinds of very nice looking trees for when texturing a wall just won't cut it.
