Pedpack
It's just an idea I got from Econo's peds; Wouldn't it be an idea to upgrade the peds in Carma2 with higher poly versions. As far as I know the entire population is made of a few models (girl with short skirt, mechanic, fat bloke) and it should be easy to make an entire new ped-pack by just changing the skins.
My problem is that I'm at first too lazy, second I don't know how to set up peds from new models, and I'm afraid it will lag down my comp, so I can't test it.
With this glidewrapper and hi-poly cars it would definitly make the game more modern.

Re: Just an idea
it could be nice distributed project; Several people making one of the models (even with cared), set it up and skin it with Plaything2 according to specs and texture-layout of the original models. Then sent the whole bunch to a guru who knows how to set things up to make it a ped and afterwards change the skin and names for the different peds.

I wouldn't doubt that people want the women to be upgraded first (or only).

We don't want to take the spirit of carmageddon away though...
If we make them too pretty we'll just pull upside and gawk at them instead of running them over.

Could be an inspiration for the hardest-to-get mission of Carmageddon. How to reach the end of the track in time while seduced on all sides by pretty peds and nice billboards.

Re: Just an idea
Believe it or not, but I'm actually working on it (finally got my lazy ..)
I have a gta3 model and I will skin it with the original carma skins. With 1 model I can make 20 different peds.
I have had a gta3 model working in game already

Great idea & great work. I hope to see more soon. Also can't wait for the release. I was wondering though, why won't you be using the skin in the pic? LOL

Re: Just an idea
If youre talking replacing most of the peds, why dont you scale em up so they are bigger? To match all the add-on cars that have been made over the years.. the original scaling seems to have been lost and we kinda made our own, though I think it fits a bit better when you see the cars on the roads and such, but the peds look like they must all be 4-5 feet tall when you think about it.
Anyways, I also like the more detailed peds idea.. I dont even use peds anymore cause I find their too damn awful looking. (Not to mention annoying). They are higher poly but so what.. trick is just dont add so much in your races, just so there are a couple on every street, instead of like 20, there wont be any slow down and it will all look so much nicer.

Re: Just an idea
Finally somebody speaks up about the scaling problem!
I thought I was the only one to care......it's not really a problem since I resized all the vehicles that were off. My personal scale is that of the '91 Caprice classic. Once you start playing w/ the physics, you realize there's one tiny window in which the cars feel right. It just happens to be compatible w/ C2's original peds' size....a lot of cars are too big. Slayer, adr and econo seem to be using pretty much the same one, which happens to usually be like mine.

Re: Just an idea
Well most of my vehicles installed are econos, so I usually try to scale mine compare to those. though sometimes I screw up.. like the civic i recently did wound up a little too big.
If i try to scale a car compared to the peds.. it just looks too small compared to all the other cars!
But Are you saying the adr/slayer/econo scale is more right? Cause im sure they are too big, im not to sure about adr though.. I only have 1 or 2 by him.
I think slayers recent LTD would be off compared to the peds.. if i stand beside one those its chest height, and im about 5'9".. VW transporters are the same height as me, but they're bigger than all the peds in game.

Re: Just an idea
I guess it varies, nothing is ever 100%. Most of Adr's latest rides have been right(but I scaled quite a few of those before release ). I guess Slayer doesn't always scale them the same. The LTD was off...the '72 deville was too small...but the '67/68 newports were dead-on. I guess that's all I remembered! Econo is usually right on for me, w/ few exceptions.
Again, I don't usually give a rat's ass if cars aren't scaled right since I redo all physics, including bboxes anyway.

Re: Just an idea
For the Diamond T I used a scale of 1:5 (1 unit = 5 metre)
Wich make my ped 1,4 metre(like all peds). Mmmh.
With a scale of 1:6 it would fit (1,7 metres)

Re: Just an idea
Seems to be pretty close to mine. A standard full-size car(17ft) is 1.1 units.
That puts 1 unit at 15.45ft, which is...5.09 meters!

Re: Just an idea
heres a good example...
thats the mountie ped, econos beetle, and an r6 (original size on far left.. the right its scaled compared to the ped) i just made.
now the beetle is still to big compared to the ped, and look how silly the scaled correctly to ped car looks compared the scaled to big vehicle.. and most vehicles are too big, so Id rather scale to all the user made cars out there than the peds, otherwise they looks silly in a way hehe.

Re: Just an idea
Here's another preview for today. It's rendered in Plaything wich is not really perfect. It's a different of 110 pollies of the originals against 950 pollies for this one. They're using the same 64x64 skins though.

Oh, and yes, the prostitute skins (that's right, two of them) will be included, like other gta conversions. And the Mammoth (Maybe even a better one)

One thing totally amaze me... how in the hell do you get your self-made pedestrian in-game? I made Neil Horan, the srange MOFO who ran over the circuit in the British Formula 1 Grand Prix last year Anyway I tried it many ways to get it in-game... Tried to let PT2 do it for me, but nothing works... Everything hates me!

Re: Just an idea
It's tricky, but this week it finally worked. I had the same problems when working on the Mammoth.
There are a lot of conventions you have to keep and there are no errormessages.
I'm using Bemax to import the model.
