Post by Forsaken Brolly »

yep, ive decided to make a pro street version of autopiliot's 66fairlane. now, i be needing permission from you to mad it, deep blue to use some of his parts, and i thinks thats it for now. check da pic. the reason its gray, is cause im renaming it so that you can add it with cstock and play with this one and the orignal at the same time. It looks vv nice, but it's probably too low. But thats not real important.

And it looks like that car out of Midnight club 2.

NICE!

Heh...NOW yer roddin' with some class.

Yer gonna wanna enlarge both sets of wheels on the YZ axes. The diameters are a bit too small for the car.

Also keep some suspension travel room in the front. If it's too low it's gonna be scrapin' the ground constantly. Make sure ya add some traction/steering response to the fronts because that's where all the weight is now. Unless ya model some traction bars for the rear-then it'll even out front to back some.

If yer goin' Pro/Street, yer gonna wanna stick a squarish, snorkel-type scoop onna hood.

Angled box upward from the hole in the hood and ending in a scale version of a 4" high rectangular scoop. (at least that's what I would do to it-after all, it is pro/street).

Looks damned good tho.

Does it have tubs in the trunk?

ok, im sorta stuck... i'm makin a P/S version, but ive seen some that have Super Chargers with no hood scoop. And now, dB says i should put one on it. well, waddya think? on or off? also, if i put the hood scoop on it, what kinda carb/blower setup i should go with?

And if i leave it off, should i go with tunnel rams, or the orignal butterfly setup?

Hmm...with a lowered, square car such as the Fairlane-I'd put this (attachment) on the hood. (lettering optional). I'd go with either a single, screened open air filter covering both carbs or two separate ones with either round with chrome tops and bottoms with just the screens in the middle or one big screen-type air filter on toppa the carbs (chrome screen on all sides and over the top) to fit under that scoop.

Here's your car with a pro/street scoop on it (not perfectly straight, but It only took a couple minutes). I'd also chuck some side pipes on it (see attachment).

Sure-I'll draw one top/side/front and attach it to the next post. EDIT* Nevermind-it's in this post (attachment). Just bend it as ya need to after ya model it. Just load that pic up in a paint proggy and chop it into the three parts ya need to load into CarEd or whatever you're using. It should be 3 components-the outer box on top/the inner box on top/and the bottom shell that goes over the hole in the hood-just extend your underhood component into the inside of the shell.

I say again:

Just load that pic up in a paint proggy and chop it into the three parts ya need to load into CarEd or whatever you're using.

Yadig? Cut that pic into 3 separate pictures. Top/Front/Left. Give each a new name-the 3D pic is just for reference.

Call the top view "top", the left view "left", and the front view "front".

Then for the left side-hit ALT-1 and then find yer "left" pic and select it-it'll show up in the left window.

Don't worry if it's too big-you can resize it later befor ya put it on the car.

Hit ALT-2, select the "front" pic-it'll show up in the front window.

Hit ALT-3 and select the "top" pic-it'll show up in the top window.

Plot your points wherever ya see fit to.

Pretty nifty thar, but I think it'd be better with a bonnet (You might put one on, I think I remember the early shots of the other one you did having no bonnet) - and bigger front wheels... They look kinda small :/

Dude, put an opaque hood on it-it'll complete the look-ya can see AdR's motor when ya hit the enter button.

Looks like ya need to resize the wheels-the diameters are too small-I was you I'd make 'em 20% or so bigger on the YZ axes.

*Laughs at random* are you taking the piss dude?! Don't be mean to the poor guy!

Anyway, I thought the idea of a perspex bonnet was pretty good... although I'm positive it can be made to look much better than that... put some highlights on... strong wide highlights, remember what its made from. Also try putting an edge of opaqueness round it... I think that may help... if you just have a sort of perspex inset into a metal bonnet.

Also read my other comments at the TSS forums.

I didn't realise it was a translucent image... I could see the scoop fine, but couldn't see the bonnet... I'd assumed it wasn't there
