Running C2 on detonator drivers v43.45
Running C2 on detonator drivers v43.45
...is impossible. Anyone can run C2 with that version? I reinstalled the game as usual, to have a fresh install and got this error. It worked with the previous version, but since it's the only game that has problems with the latest drivers, there's no point in going back. I just want to know if someone else using these drivers can run C2 as usual.
Otherwise I'll have to wait to get my old 14" Samsung monitor fixed to set up everything on my old PC, wich I'm planning to optimize it to get the best out of it to run C2 on 3Dfx
I want my carma back!!!!!
oh, and don't ask me what the hell is wrong with dtd...

I am having the exact same problem, I've been having a problem w/ my C2 for a couple of months now, I can get it to play in low res... grr. 3d mode works sometimes.... but most of the time it locks up. Maybe i should reinstall.

to wich grafics cards are the detonator drivers... dont think that ATI cards have the same Detonators as Nvidia cards has... if ya dont find any good solutions... remove the Detonator that dosnt work, and report it to the makers of te detonators

Re: Running C2 on detonator drivers v43.45
I'm using Detonator drivers (I THINK they're the latest ones, and I never had any trouble with C2 actually *crashing* on me, except that it ran so slowly when using ADRs 'Art Piece' cars (ie his later, most beautiful ones) that I moved to TDR - which runs very nicely. I still think the only reliable solution is to have an old PC set up with a Voodoo on it - and use that to play C1/C2, then use your new one for everything else that doesn't require Glide. Bit of a pain in the arse to do that tho..
Kruschev: the Detonator drivers are for NVidia cards.

Re: Running C2 on detonator drivers v43.45
Yep, I was looking for some way around it so I didn't had to build up my old pc again *laziness* :P Seems like the only way to enjoy C2 at its fullest is by running it on 3dfx. I tried it on my new PC and the frame rates are amazing... too bad that is a pain in the rear to unplug/plug the monitor between the cars just to play C2
Anyways, hoping to get back in the bussiness once I got my old setup ready again

Re: Running C2 on detonator drivers v43.45
I tried Glide wrappers as well - but they just weren't reliable enough.
Re: Running C2 on detonator drivers v43.45
HY! i am also running in detonator display drivers and all is ok! but sometimes it escapes from the game.
Re: Running C2 on detonator drivers v43.45
welcome to the board Buggy... and thats all i got to say

Re: Running C2 on detonator drivers v43.45
got C2 running today Seems like there was some problem with previous uninstalled 3dfx drivers, at least it runs on D3D now, with the '62 savoy and the '67 300 running against a fleet of econo's low-poly cars, still gets huge framedrops, from 60fps to 15 when all cars are in screen
So glide wrappers aren't good enough? I have a couple, eVoodoo and OpenGlide, but couldn't try them 'cause somehow, the C2 launcher detects a 3dfx card (???) without any of those programs running. So once I figure that out i'll see how they work.

Re: Running C2 on detonator drivers v43.45
If you need faster 3DFX card, maybe you should try to hunt for Voodoo 5. Play faster with Glide-mode...
That should finish, or at least reduce, the slowdowns.

By the way, what are these: "eVoodoo and OpenGlide"?
I haven't heard about 'em yet... can you play Glide with non-Voodoo cards or something?

So... does it work well? You get all 256x256 texture support and fog perfectly?

Re: Running C2 on detonator drivers v43.45
if your OpenGL or D3D driver supports them, yes....
Re: Running C2 on detonator drivers v43.45
Yeah, I wish I could try them but that damn C2 detects glide on my system, even when I cleaned every trace of 3dfx it was left on the registry and HD... I should keep trying though :P
Re: Running C2 on detonator drivers v43.45
C2 Scientist: here's the link for the glide wrappers:
http://www.voodoofiles.com/type.asp?cat_id=14
Anyone who can give these a try let me know how it works, if it's really worth it I'll keep diggin' my system for some way to fix this "fake glide detection".
Meanwhile, decided to give it a try @ software mode (320x200) and I just love it! I can play with any car, doesn't matter if it has high res textures, high poly count... I got "Bruise Brothers" setup with 10 crown vic's NYPD as opponents, me using the '70 Road Runner, got an average of 40fps, lowest frame rate was 30 (11 cars on screen) and the highest being 60fps.
Also got another problem on D3D, and that is I can't play with my Thrustmaster Charger 2 wheel, it just crashes before it even starts.
The downsides of software mode?
-resolution (but this can be fixed if you have at least a 20" tv )
-no more than 10 opponents
-Yon factor doesn't matter, it's always the same
-small screenshots (and movies too, but I haven't tried that yet :P)
What's cool about it? gameplay! is like going back to the C1 days, running it at 320x240 on my long forgotten P1 100Mhz, when it was all about gameplay, not eye candy.

Re: Running C2 on detonator drivers v43.45
You're a tad late, I already got them! I have OpenGlide and E-Voodoo... E-Voodoo crashed, but OpenGlide works, the 9.00 alpha I think. But, it hasn't started fullscreen yet... I might try other versions and see if it works. There were fog and 256x256 textures, hehe! It appeared slightly slower, though!
There's also some problems with my custom menu backgrounds & custom loading screen: they won't show up! Anyways I must try again, maybe I can get rid of the slowdowns and 'windowization'. :P
I got ATI Radeon 8500 BTW, not GeForce...

Re: Running C2 on detonator drivers v43.45
You know, I happened re-read your earlier posts:
That should do it, no?
Now, Openglide's version 5.00 seems to have some kind of configuration proggie, which has no effect on later versions... 5.00 had fullscreen option, but since the wrapper didn't work, not in windowed either, that version was no use for me. Versions 8.00 & 9.00 worked, but there weren't any configuration program with in package... and as I said, 5.00's configurater had no effect. Damn. Maybe later in versions, but I have to check out next, what was the date of the last download, so that I know if they're gonna release anything anymore...
Now that I've downloaded, tried, and got them working, I know what the "problem" is with your computer: It *is* supposed to detect the Glide-mode! Search your C-drive, or the drive containing Windows-folder somewhere, for "Glide2X". Two files should appear located in Windows/System. The other one is Glide2X.dll, and the other was... something else, I don't remember anymore because I deleted it. Ok, if you delete those files, C2 Launcher won't detect Glide anymore. But, you were supposed to detect Glide, and that's why you'll need to extract Glide2X.dll from the Glide wrapper package, to Windows/System. That means: replace original Glide2X.dll with GlideWrapper's Glide2X.dll, in Windows/System.
I have a couple, eVoodoo and OpenGlide, but couldn't try them 'cause somehow, the C2 launcher detects a 3dfx card (???) without any of those programs running.
