Well, there's no reason to go from SketchUp to CarEd.

You want to first make sure the SketchUp model is setup correctly with wheels as seperate parts. And all polys are facing the correct way (blue side away from you), and fully textured - a final model

- In SketchUp (pro version) export model as .3ds

- Open .3ds in 3DSMax and export model as .ASE

- Use ASE2ASC to convert ASE to ASC!

- Import ASE into Plaything2, do wheel setup and heirachy, Save

- Do paperwork, car's TXT and WAM files

- Put in game and testdrive

If you have never edited anything in C2 and are unfamiliar with the file stucture, TIF format and sizing, getting your car into the game, ASE2ASC, etc. Please use the SEARCH feature to get up to speed.

oh dear, here we go!

Use the search feature for ASE 2 ASC and look around to find this:

http://cfe.toshiba-3.com/files/tosh/ASE2ASC.rar

then if you use google and search for 3dsmax, you'll find it

(i'm not doing this stage for you)

@ Tosh - Thanks! Great links!

@pileup - If you post screenies of your car in progress, you sometimes get help from others as it piques people's interest in seeing it get finished. Of course it could go the other way, if it's a crap model.

OK, now I am really confused. WTF does either SketchUp or CarEd have to do with simply reskinning a car?
