Trenton Remodel

Post by ApeX__ »

as some of you know, my trenton 980 model wasnt the best looking model possible,

so i've decided to re-model it from the shell up (smoothing applyed and better looking mesh)

with some better details so,... comments VERY welcomed, (good or bad i want to know it all)

i like it (but you knew that )

ummm where the headlight are going to go are cool but maybe a different arrangement of the holes under it. because the main hole is small it reminds me of the Skyline R34 drag nose cone. but its your car, so its your choice

18x10 with independent rear would be cool too

i think you should remodel that back, still looking like a mustang 2005 and it removes the originality of your model...

Yeah. The first thing that came to my mind was "Mustang". Not that I mind much, it's a sweet looking car anyway.

Looks realy sweet, But one vertex in the back seems to be tomutch toward the middle on the X axis... It looks like a dent there (the vertex im talking of is, go from the bottom of the rear light bottom area of the chassy and then go toward the front... about 2-3 vertexes)

i think the front looks really good, but the rear bumper could use some changing, i think it would look good if you just pulled thebottom of the bumper out further so isntead of this / it would be like this | you might not like the idea but its just my opinion.

usualy i dont reply to my self, but here goes nothing

im somewhat stuck on the back of the car, i see some people who dont like it and dont have

any suggestions on how it would look good, so i dont know what to change so its probbly

going to stay the same, but i did happen to shorten the lenght of the hole ass end alot

added some doors, and fixed (more?!) smoothing ... As of now, it stands at 2,000+ polys

im going to do some poly chopping so theres nothing to worrie about!

Looks realy great Apex. And that redering looks "".

I cant think of anything to do with the rear , it looks just fine the way it is.

Perhaps making the rear window a little shorter...

Anyway looking forward to this car!

actual from a diifferent angle the front looks sweet.

Auto Modellista, on the skyline you can put a drag racing body kit... but the body kits on that game modeled after real body kits.

but dont worry about it. ok

like i said in the post above, if you took the bumper and pulled it out so it goes from this / to this |

and now that i can see it from a different angle it would look if you pulled the middle all the way down, and then put two holes where the exhausts would stick out

i wish i could make some blue prints or something but i dont have a program to do it with. i hope you understand what im saying, cause im stating it the best i can, but another thing why you should change it is because it looks like the bumpers are two totally different body kits on one car  no offense.

but besides that it looks sweet ass!

hood and bumpers, theres small gaps every where on cars, im trying to make it realistic

Yeah, but if you would make a car so precise you would have to load up with another bunch of polys. An amount you would have a hard time even dreaming of. Because you'll need to make something that's between all parts. There's always something in there that keeps you from letting you see theinside

For games those gaps are made with textures, so the poly amount wouldn't get too much. Even if I set my limit at 7000 I get carried away and it ends up me taking away lot's of stuff that actually serve no purpose. You got some loong and hard work there if you keep it up

Oh, one thing just came to me. You could have made the model without gaps and then just selected the edges where the gaps should be and.. do something I can't rememeber now, it seems.

Anyway, you'll get a few more edges out of the selected, then it's only to choose "bevel" and you'll get that deeper gap you're going for. That is, if you worked in Max for example

alright, i pinched the gaps together a little more and did some work on the back bumper,

sorry @ob, im using your Grille texture for now, i'll make my own later

As of now its just over 2000polys for all you see here both side's (whole body doors, fenders & Bumpers)

Attached Pic, props to @ob for the girlle texture

EDIT>>> I forgot to fix the gap on the back bumper

gaps are ok, but they are sorta stupid for C2 cause they eat up polies and you cant really tell thier there. other than that, it looks good dude.

thanks FB, havent really seen you in ages, but the thing about modeling gaps its mainly for rending...

and i dont understand how modeling "gaps" in the body could add to the poly count... you see

when modeling the gaps in the body parts theres just a small empty space behind them, so thus you would think you need to fill in the gaps with more polys, but thats where "backing" comes into play, making a backplate so when the part falls off all thats there is the backplate, so the backing behind the fenders and bumpers will go Behind the

apex, i think you should take the risk and make a corvette c6 rear type, i think the result will be great and break the mustang look of your car, and the roof too, you should down him a lil bit... your car looking good so far

whats a C6 Corvett rear end look like?

and if i were to take the "risk" it wouldnt really be a risk, cause i can

always back it up  (last Edit, I sware!... if i were to back up my car, becuase im changing the

back end of it, would i be "backing that ass up"??)

EDIT> if google image search is worth a shit, this is a C6 corvette... Right?

lots of images! (kinda big pictures)

Meh, nothing wrong with rice, I like rice cars.... your car dosn't look like rice anyway... more of a luxury car type of feel this round... Im assuming your saying its rice because of the tailights and rear bumper, but I have seen ALOT of new cars going to the those tailights...

Chevy Equinox:

Nissan Altima:

http://www.mikeandbev.org/altima/altima3h.jpg

Almost All Lexus models... so you can't really blame the tailights for this car being AKA Ricey... its just a trend that alot of car manufactuers are going through... and Apex is just blending in.

Sez Apex:

"ever looked at a real car and noticed the "cracks" between each body part? doors, fenders, engine

That's right. Besides, those cracks become less obvious once you model in the pillars and parts behind them. I try to do that on a lot of my cars as well.
