Re: A car that can crush beyond the firewall
the firewall would be the front of the passenger compartment.. it separates the engine from the driver

i didnt know drivers cam with cars you mean it seperates the engine bay from the cab... right?
Haha Fuck you Kitteh
Re: A car that can crush beyond the firewall
Notice were the big X is that is the firewall it seperates the engine bay from the interior.
on a C2 car i wanna make a car crush further but the firewall wont crush at all the impact stops there.

French kissing the Black Dog isn't very healthy either, but my driver didn't really mind. I think dumb shouldn't be an arguement.
Re: A car that can crush beyond the firewall
Well there's gotta be a limit on the crushing. It would just look awkward if it did crush past that point in a front collision. On side collisions, however, it will crush past the firewall. For all you know, the author made the middle part of the car uncrushable or very hard to crush.

Re: A car that can crush beyond the firewall
But the firewall, judging from the above pic, would give in the least on a side impact. A side impact, by the way, in Carmageddon does crush the firewall, if I remember correctly. Wouldn't it be possible to take the number for that calculation and apply them to a front impact?
Or is this thinking too simple?

Re: A car that can crush beyond the firewall
Yeah, I meant it will crush easily in Carma. I would think making the entire car softer would probably make it crush past the firewall.
Re: A car that can crush beyond the firewall
i even tried making the body softer and some other wam objects. still desnt go through the firewall
Re: A car that can crush beyond the firewall
Maybe there's something in the txt file that defines a second bounding box so it won't crush past a certain point.

Re: A car that can crush beyond the firewall
Here they are: (In the beginning of a WAM-file)

[font class="small">code:[/font]

VERSION 4
1 // Number of 'X mins' entries.
0.09 // X mins [The furthest crush position of car's right side]
1 // Number of 'X maxs' entries.
-0.09 // X maxs [The furthest crush position of car's left side]
1 // Number of 'Y mins' entries.
0.17 // Y mins [The lowest crush position of the roof]
1 // Number of 'Y maxs' entries.
0.1 // Y maxs [The highest crush position of the bottom]
1 // Number of 'Z mins' entries.
0.24 // Z mins [The furthest crush position of car's rear]
1 // Number of 'Z maxs' entries.
-0.11 // Z maxs [The furthest crush position of car's front]

Although it would look unnatural to make the car crush that far since the wheels would look like they were attached to nothing. If the wheels were set to detach, well, then the handling would be off. (since it would be like the wheels were still there)
Still, I usually set the front of my cars to crush approximately to the firewall or dash point.
