Does This Guy Have Permission For This?

Post by JN_Parisienne »

Hey, I'm a n00b to this forum, but I've been playing C2 for a while. Incredible work guys, keep it up. I'm involved with the Midtown Madness comunity, and while cruising Box designs forum, I found this link:

http://couma.racerplanet.com/index.html

Browse around that site for a minutes and you'll see what I'm talking about. This guy is converting cars. I was wondering, did anyoen give him permission for this? ADR? ChevyII? Anyone? Hmmm...

Oh and me? I'm just a guy who loves Pontiac Parisiennes.

Oh, AdR, Slayer and others certainly gave him permission.....he's been doing this kind of conversion all along....If you read the readme for my cars, you'd know they're all conversions from free models too.

He just got them from the same source...

JN is talking about the '80s Parisienne. It resembles an Impala/Caprice/Delta 88/Lesabre.

Here's a pic of it in Midtown Madness:

I had the chance to finish it for someone. That's the same color as JN's car.

You are correct ADR, but as Qwerty says, I'm talking about '80s Parisiennes. To be more specific, my 1985 Parisienne

You can check it out at cardomain.com...

JN's 1985 Parisienne

Jeez there's still a big Midtown Madness community? After all this time too, longer than carmageddon(2). Is there just 1 big forum like this, or are there still a bunch of em? I used to love that game!

Yeah, the MM community is pretty big. Here's a link to one of the major forums: http://boxdesigns.teamdr.net/forum/index.php

There's a lot of user made cars too. A lot of muscle cars.

Couma: Woah, I didn't spam your guestbook! That was not me. Sorry, I didn't know if you had permission or not, so I figured I'd ask the people here. Apparently, you do, so I appoligze again for the false accusation. Didn't mean to make you mad.

I'm sure MM MUST have alphas(, it's too recent not to), but I understood it as being the case that many cars for it are low poly (due to 1. Having to show a lot of cityscape at once. and 2.Not being as tightly programmed as the Carma series) and one way to save polys is to leave out car interiors. I think. The above may be ENTIRELY wrong and MM not have alphas at all, but I doubt it - I know for certain there are some smashable windows  (which presumably use alpha channels) in a building in SF in MM2.

MM does support alphas. The in-game vehicles use alpha for the wheels. Some add-on vehicles use alpha for transparent windows and other special features.
