Your Ride?
Re: Your Ride?
I've posted my junks before, but here is my daily transportation object:
(not my exact car but same year, color, model, wheels, its the twin basically)
But come springtime (after the master cylinder gets replaced along with the fuel lines and gas tank)
the monstrosity will live again:
And God help anyone who gets in my way..

Re: Your Ride?
Aha you said it, kill kill!
Buick made some rather menacing looking cars back then.. this one actually looks that and slighly miserable at the same time, probably suffering from bi polor disorder.. it wont mind anything getting in its way im sure, but if its veering off the road for a certain target, it probably wont mind running itself into that traffic light post at the same time... just a word of caution!

Re: Your Ride?
Cautionary note..noted! Its an interesting car to sit in, theres an air of oppressiveness to it, I rather like it. Plus anyone/thing I hit with it would go through that grille like cheese through a grater.
Re: Your Ride?
Yeah, but you should see it blow through the quarter mile in 28.7 seconds at 72 mph
If it runs, drives, stops, has a title, AND is under $300, I'll take it!

Re: Your Ride?
Did that come stock with a 5-speed manual? I always thought those cars were automatics only. And don't you mean 3.4L?
Re: Your Ride?
Yeah, all of them do come with auto's, so me and my friend constructed a conversion kit to transfer
it over to a manual
And no i mean 3.6, it's been slightly bored out

Re: Your Ride?
That must be a blast to drive. Do you have any pics of the conversion?

Re: Your Ride?
My ride now is the bus now.
But, behold the car with a million problems like you can't imagine I am about to send to scrap any day now. No parking brake, brake lines messed up, AC busted, left rear door does not open, trunk lid misaligned, driver's window is hard to crank down, right front door handle has no spring, CE light on due to shot O2 or MAF sensor, engine misfires and sounds like a V8 (!!!), gear shifter is hard to budge from Park to Drive, leaks oil at the crank case seal, rear left tire loses air randomly, fumes of raw gas circulate it most of the time and a messed up driver's side mirror. And other problems where my hand is too tired to type now. The damn thing still starts everyday even in winter. But now it needs about 1700$ worth of work on it so it's not worth keeping it. The car is unfit and unsafe to be used on the road, so it got retired before I end up hurting myself. Behold my soon-to-be-former ride.

As you can see, I kept all the hubcaps off as a homage to the best car ever with no hubcaps, the Bluesmobile! It may not be an ex-cop car, but it's beat up, old and has no hubcaps so it partly qualifies.
With these problems, the thing still runs. That's the quality every car must have!

Shame you're in Quebec... otherwise I'd say bring it round for a good trashing. Then you still get the scrap money.

Re: Your Ride?
Looks like this topic came back just in time to give you the bad news,
My truck blew up, something happend in the gearbox and now only reverce works, and due to its age and all it will be easyer to just buy a new car. at the moment im using my mom's 2006 honda, and a cadi i got from er... the junkyard, But let me show you what im looking for..
you might think its prety boring.. but i want the next model up from mine, a 90's ram, prefered the 5.7 hemi in black.. i wants.
But ill have to do some research, as i dont know the diffrence betwene the 5.2 5.9 and 5.7 hemi engines they come with, ah well.. should be quieter than mine.. i never could get those exhausts to fit..

Re: Your Ride?
I'm currently rolling in my 1959 VW 'Lowlight' Karmann Ghia called 'The Zombie', it had a full 5 page feature and middle page A3 poster in the June '06 VolksWorld Mag which has the full story of how it came about and got it's name.

It's a friggin' K car!
Yup, a 1988 Plymouth Reliant no less. It's the LE model, so it's got a bunch of fancy extras.
Although I'm not certain yet, it does appear to have the 2.5 engine. It's got the automatic rather than the 5-speed manual, but it's still good. Runs pretty well and haven't noticed any leaks yet.
It's in good condition. The clear coat is peeling, but the paint is still good. Very little rust or other damage. It'll give me something good to drive till the Arrow is fixed up.
Seems to be a pretty good deal for five hundred bucks!
Seems a little odd having one, as I've often heard people talking about these "K cars". They seem to be a little bit famous, not to mention there has been more than one made for Carma2.

Oh, I forgot to post this: my bike.
Yup, home made fenders. When I made them, I couldn't find any that would fit it, so I made some. Did a little work to them since the photo.
Planning to add a few more items, such as light, frame-mounted pump, and maybe even a rear rack.

Re: Your Ride?
Here is my work in progress 1985 Monte Carlo SS...
After I got the exhaust system on...
Soon I will have the current 350ci engine stroked to a 383ci engine. After that it will be putting out about 450hp.

Re: Your Ride?
Thanks
After all of the engine work is done I am going to get it painted in black with the original striping package. Should look good when it is all done.

@Reno: how did you clearance the fan housing with those twin carbs? I found it to be impossible in my bug, are you using different manifolds?

I'm entirely with you on your opinion with this one. Shame to see an old 140 getting smashed, they're getting to be rare beasties now!
