does anyone release new cars for TDR anymore?
does anyone release new cars for TDR anymore?
It seems like all car makers are pretty dormant these days... I know I know.... "Make yer own if you want to" - you say. But still.... Any news from the car making front?
Re: does anyone release new cars for TDR anymore?
Yea,my response to if anyone were to say that to me would be "Well tell me how I can make cars without having to pay over $100 for some software and I'll make some",heck if someone gave me 3DSM I'd trade them a set of cartoon DVDS's! (After all,One must have more than one hobby).
Speed can come in a little packages too!

Re: does anyone release new cars for TDR anymore?
Over $100.I already know how to get it for free off the net but the torrent program I used to have I deleted aswell as my other, crappy one. What I'd like is if I could pay or trade someone to make me some CD-RW\CD-R's of the program.I'll even supply the discs!!! I would get it off the net with another bittorrent thing but it would take way too long to download 3DS Max.

LoL patience dear, patience...you'll get 3dmax faster thru bittorrent then thru mail like you wanna now
Just let the computer + program run all day and night, and only those 2...

Re: does anyone release new cars for TDR anymore?
Just visited your website the Spray Shop. Again - same ol' picture - TONS of great cars for Carma 2 and, alas, NO cars for TDR.
That's no good really.

Re: does anyone release new cars for TDR anymore?
I don't know why everyone thinks they need 3dsm to make cars. All you need is a halfway decent modeling proggy that'll export a .dxf or .3ds, or almost any format. There's dozens of converters that'll then get it to the format you need.
Milkshape3D is free isn't it?
For making cars, I use Ray Dream designer, export as .dxf, convert that to .asc and I'm good to go.

Re: does anyone release new cars for TDR anymore?
That is true. Version 3.1 of Max is only needed when it's time to export the whole creation to make it work with TDR. But that version is a bit tricky to find today. Even warez is a bit tricky. Searching today only gives you results of version 8 or 9, or whatever version that is the latest crap.
And also there's a possibility to make most of it yourself, and let someone with 3.1 export it.

yes! well said.
we all pitch in and help gladly when someone is stuck.
that's way different than asking to dump the onerous task on someone else
it won't happen, believe me.

Re: does anyone release new cars for TDR anymore?
Nothing's gonna motivate modellers if they don't want to create cars anymore or have better things to do. The post was not meant to motivate but maybe make someone pay attention. Carma2 has gone into overdrive with tons of cars, while TDR is starving.
Re: does anyone release new cars for TDR anymore?
This is my last post on the subject as it seems to have gone full circle.
“Give a man a fish; you have fed him for today. Teach a man to fish; and you will not have to listen to his incessant whining about how hungry he is.”—Author unknown
We're trying to teach you to fish by pointing you to a FREE 3d modeling program (Milkshape) and by explaining what's involved in getting the car into the game. Rest is up to you.

Re: does anyone release new cars for TDR anymore?
There are very few people that actually like TDR and even less that want to take the time to create stuff for it. We're stuck into making Only cars. Would be even more fun to be able to make tracks and more.
I really want to go back into creating 3D models. If I could, I actually could finish something (And yes, shut up everyone. They will come a nice day, haha)
But try to start making a cube with square wheels. It's always a start. There are tutorials, already asked questions, and a lot of people that can answer new questions.

Re: does anyone release new cars for TDR anymore?
true, but... c2 sucks, c1 ownz all and is no.1, and tdr is 2nd.
There are very few people that actually like TDR and even less that want to take the time to create stuff for it.
Ive done a couple cars and yeh it gets boring when you cant really create anything else for tdr, its a shame really, tdr could be a lot better if people really looked at it.
Tracks are possible, but only if you look at it the right way, aint hard really.
Someone... figured out cars and tracks a long time before torus released the sdk. it cant be so hard that just one person managed it...(think eagle 1) can it?
Re: does anyone release new cars for TDR anymore?
What sort of "bothers" me is that cars for carma2 are still released at a steady rate, while TDR car creating has stuck or so it seems.
Re: does anyone release new cars for TDR anymore?
It can be done easier. The tools are free. You don't need a speciefic version of a very expensive 3D program and a specific plugin to complete something. And.. you can add/change pretty much whatever. That's why C2 got more followers.

Re: does anyone release new cars for TDR anymore?
I see the reasons, but after all carma2 is an older game with more crappy graphics, but still people bother creating stuff for it.

It might be an older game, but it's the better of the two

Yep !
And creating cars is as fun as smashing them against the walls !

Re: does anyone release new cars for TDR anymore?
I do not agree I played both and carma2 pales in comparison. IMO.
What I find strange is that even Beroc has been silent TDR-wise.

Re: does anyone release new cars for TDR anymore?
What someone should do is do whole texture replacers for every level to make it all more carmagdonish - not like a cartoon. They should also import the carma 1 and 2 maps to tdr plus every car. It'd take a while though...

Re: does anyone release new cars for TDR anymore?
Why continuing posting in this thread ?
You don't like C2 ? nevermind !
You like TDR ? That's fine !
If you want more cars on one of these games, why don't you try to make them by yourself ?
It seem to be hard but it's not that hard in fact. It's fun.
And, you know, you'll ever have support from the people on this forum.
So, come on ! Be a modeler !

Re: does anyone release new cars for TDR anymore?
This is predictable: "make yer own". (as I stated in my initial post). It'd be nice to know the reason behind this silence (which lasts for almost a year now).
Re: does anyone release new cars for TDR anymore?
Have you not understood a single thing that's been said?
1) You need a specific version of a very expensive 3D program and a specific plugin to complete a car for TDR.
2) There are very few people that actually like TDR and even less that want to take the time to create stuff for it.
3) Your insistent use of the 'angry' emote has me THIS close to getting you banned.
