Carmageddon >>1<< under Glide
Re: Carmageddon >>1<< under Glide
Got the same prob, there are previous topics of this subject here.
Re: Carmageddon >>1<< under Glide
Carmageddon 1 is not Windows native, so getting the glide wrapper to work would probably be a problem. In fact, I don't know of anyone playing Carmageddon 1 with the glide wrapper.
However, if you have a fast enough machine (1.2 ghz and above and a gf3 or better) you can run Carmageddon 1 in a higher resolution by using the -hires switch at the command prompt. Keep in mind however, that high resolution for Carmageddon 1 is 640x480.

Bad form Beasty... so smull, perhaps you could contact benkid77 to find out what options were used during install, what system he's running etc. It does mention that the wrapper can emulate DOS glide also, so I'm guessing that's not your problem.

Re: Carmageddon >>1<< under Glide
I got Carmageddon 1 working in windows XP using the dgVoodoo glide wrapper. The only problem I have is the car and screen stutters a bit. Seems to be worse when the car is going up or down, never happens on flat road surfaces. Its very distracting, has anyone else encountered this, and does anyone know how to fix it?

I'm running XP pro and dgvoodoo never worked correctly for me,
but but 3dfxGlideWrapper does!
Seems like one or the other will work on your machine, but not both.
You should probably try running 3dfxGlideWrapper, see if it's any better

Hi Coffycup,
Thank you for your reply,
When you say that you have never got dgVoodoo to work, what exactly was the problem? Was the car jerkyness I get or something entirely diffrent?
Also, I did a search on the net for "3dfxGlideWrapper" and got nothing, do you know where I can get it from? And does it run Carmageddon 1?
Chris

oh shit, sorry you're asking about C1, oops, my bad
Never tried running C1 since moving form Mac to PC
But here's GlideWrapper I bet it works with C1
I don't remember exactly what the problem was with dgvoodoo, I don't think it ran at all.

Re: Carmageddon >>1<< under Glide
Ah yeah, I know the one your talking about, the problem c1 has with that wrapper is that it only supports Windows baised games, c1 is a DOS game so I need a DOS emulating glide wrapper.
dgVoodoo does it, but its buggy,
GliDos does it, but is even buggier,
I`d love to know about anymore?
Anyway, thanks for your input coffeecup
