new hardware caused TDR to stop working
new hardware caused TDR to stop working
Yup,
I installed a new motherboard and processor and videocard, the mb has an onboard soundcard.
Now TDR wont run, not even in setup/configure mode.
Is there a way to fix this w/o re-installing because I got a lot of 3rd party cars and patches that are a pain in the posterior to reinstall.
any advice folks?

Re: new hardware caused TDR to stop working
Even if you backup the assets/Cars folder then copy it after reinstalling, there's no guarantee it will work. Believe me, I tried a number of times in the past and you'll always end up installing every individual car and track from scratch. It's the only definite way to keep from seeing those mysterious launch glitches.
Re: new hardware caused TDR to stop working
always worked for me, never had problems, but if u run into problems, u could jus remove them, then install them in batches of 10, keep movin till u hit a problem, find a batch that messes u up, remove the 10 cars add 1 at a time till u find then problem, if no problems continue with 10 batches, if u still get problems post it hear or install a new version of the car then add ur skinz back later, after that continue till completed, but I still wanna know what he means by 3rd part patches.

Re: new hardware caused TDR to stop working
OK clarification,
When I said "3rd party cars and patches" I meant "3rd party cars and 1st party patches"
I dont think there are any 3rd party patches.
sorry.

Type your message, then, making sure 'I want to preview my post and/or attach a file' is ticked, hit Continue. You can now attach a file.
I'm curious how people get the url of pictures before they have even attached them, so they can show it as an image, instead of people having to click to view the attachment.

When you made your post then you go and look to your attachment, then copy the URL of the image and edit your post.
Put [ image ]here the url[ /image ] (without the spaces) to let the attachment see in the post...

Yeah, I know that, but on some peoples posts it doesn't say that they've editted them. :/
That's why I asked.

Re: new hardware caused TDR to stop working
Simple, you can check that too like when you want to preview/attach a file box
Re: new hardware caused TDR to stop working
Oh right, I'll keep that in mind for when I next attach an image. Thanks!
Re: new hardware caused TDR to stop working
Ok here it is...
I think...
Ooops, it don't like BMP files.
I gotta install a program that can convert it.
oh well,

Re: new hardware caused TDR to stop working
hoping your running Windows XP cause I had the same problem after installing new hardware, and solved mine by:-
right clicking on the tdr.exe and changing the compailbility(sp) mode to : Windows 98/ME like I say, this is under Windows XP and it now works a treat
Hope this helps

I'm running Windows 2000. I don't know if it has a compatability option like that.

Refreshing this thread:
Any new suggestions for me?
I just installed the patches.

Does your processor have HT by any chance?
I noticed somebody else had a new proc with HT too including me and we all seem to have the same error.

Re: new hardware caused TDR to stop working
You can turn it off in your BIOS but I already tried that and it didn't help...
Re: new hardware caused TDR to stop working
Hey there,
I had a similar problem with my new computer. I couldn't even start setup mode. It kept giving me this message "Exception at 0x005876a1
'Int divided by zero'
and then lots of strings.
Anyway I solved the problem just as n3wton described (THANKS A BUNCH MAN!!!!)
Here's what I did:
Browse your TDR2000 CD directory (not the TDR2000 directory in your hard drive!)
Find TDR2000menu.exe
Right click it.
Click "Compatibility" tab
Click "Run this program in compatibility mode for" radio button.
Scroll down to "Windows 98/ME"
Don't touch anything else. Click OK
Go to your programs menu and start the game.
It worked for me. I hope it works for you too.

Re: new hardware caused TDR to stop working
On a second note, you might wanna do these steps with the TDR2000.exe in the game directory in your hard drive. Especially if you wanna use the patch and the carpacks (Duh!!). The steps are the same and it works perfectly.

Re: new hardware caused TDR to stop working
I already tried that didn't work, instead of an exception error it just gives a standard windows error now.
Re: new hardware caused TDR to stop working
Yeah,
and I dont have compatibility mode settings on my win2K machine.
I wonder if there is something I can download for this...

Re: new hardware caused TDR to stop working
Indeed there is! Download the Resource Kit, it includes an application compatibility tool. That may do the trick.....
Re: new hardware caused TDR to stop working
Cool,
Is this a windows update?
I am looking for it but have yet to find it.

Aw, crap....the kit used to be available as a single archive....guess they felt the need to be smart again.
Save the above attachment, but I can't guarantee it'll work w/o other files.
