Some old models from 1999, the beginning of CarEd.

Post by Stork »

Hi

I am new to this forum but i did create some models for Carma 2 back in 1999.
I remember getting alot of help from Ben Beard, creator of CarEd.

These are the three cars i finished in this order:

The Hellcab
taxi11.zip
(223.05 KiB) Downloaded 123 times
The Moppe
moppeb1.zip
(157.86 KiB) Downloaded 110 times
The BeachBug
CFC-Buggy.zip
(193.04 KiB) Downloaded 110 times
I also worked on a T-Ford that i never finished.

I found some vintage Carma news about my cars :)
http://kickass42.tripod.com/oldnws.htm
http://kickass42.tripod.com/cars.htm

The cars are not so good by todays standard.
But these were among the 10 or so first addon cars ever created for Carma 2.
So i did not have much reference or any tutorials.

I remember these. I think I had your Beach Buggy and Taxi at one point. I'll need to reinstall and give them a try. Thanks!

I treid em out, Pretty good models, really got that early 2000s feel heh, yeah if you had released them back then, woulda fit right in, I took screenshots, shall I show em?

The buggy tho, I feel weight is too far back, the thing wheelies at everything, and thats with my setup of no apo. heh its really too rear heavy, apart from that, all good nice to see the handling is set up and all. a lot of cars from that era felt very, samy,

A question:

How do you play this game on a modern computer?

Nice oldschool stuff! Sure are old!

We usually play this game with glide wrappers nowadays (nGlide, dgVoodoo). You mustn't forget to patch the game to its latest version as well. Be it V2 or the recent V3, don't forget to back up RACES.TXT and OPPONENT.TXT if you already installed addon cars. If your game is untouched, just put Carstockalypse in the main folder then run it (it will expand data.twt). Then apply the patch (and restore backed up txt files if needed).
Patches can be found there: https://rr2000.cwaboard.co.uk/pc-files#c2

Wow, I remember the Moppe. Probably one of the first things I ever downloaded for Carma2.

And the imperial speeder, lol - I bet I downloaded every single car on that page back then, just to try them out.

Oh, man. These were some of the very first things I downloaded when I was a wee nipper and getting started with adding things into C2, thanks for this nostalgia trip!
