Re: Carma2 - Soundproblem
Hi, you must launch the game directly from CARMA2_HW.EXE and not use the launcher.
To run the exe in D3D mode you'll have to create a shortcut (or a .bat file) that goes like this:
CARMA2_HW.EXE -d3d
If you don't add the -d3d part after the path it will try to run in glide mode.
You're running Win98 on your machine and I think Zeckensack's glide wrapper works in Win98 so you might want to give it a try (allows greater resolution and bigger textures than D3D mode).
Tell us if it helps!

Re: Carma2 - Soundproblem
What about you at least try what I suggest?
The carma2.exe launcher is known to cause issues, nobody uses it.
Changing graphic mode might fix the sound issue. Just try.
Now it's up to you.

I had tried. It do nothing. I renamed in CARMA2_HW.EXE -d3d, i cant open this because it isnt a executable file. I must rename in CARMA2_HW -d3d.EXE. Then i can open, but it do nothing. -> cheap black screen, and 1second later iam in the carmageddon 2 folder.

Re: Carma2 - Soundproblem
First: you didn't read my post correctly. I never told you to rename the executable, I told you to make a shortcut.
Create a .txt file, write this is it: CARMA2_HW.EXE -d3d
then save, and replace .txt by .bat. That's a shortcut that you can run.
I've added said .bat shortcut to this post. Put it in the C2 folder and run it.
Second: I meant using the glide wrapper to run the game in Glide (like everyone else) and not in D3D. Install Zeckensack's glide wrapper and run CARMA2_HW.EXE directly. The game might run differently in this graphic mode, and maybe fix the sound issues.

Re: Carma2 - Soundproblem
When the glide wrapper is installed, you should be able to run CARMA2_HW.EXE directly (without using the .bat file) and thus in Glide mode. Check if your issues are solved.
If it doesn't work, then your TNT2 Pro doesn't support glide and you can uninstall the glide wrapper
The only other thing that crosses my mind is making sure that the SoundDetailLevel line in DATA/OPTIONS.TXT is set to 2.
like this: SoundDetailLevel 2

Re: Carma2 - Soundproblem
Well then, I'm not sure that the problem comes from C2 then. I have no idea what else to suggest
If you really want to play C2, you can buy the GOG release for your modern system:

If you find a solution, keep us updated.

Re: Carma2 - Soundproblem
The GOG version is made for newer systems like Windows 7 and Windows 8.
Don't try it with Win98

Re: Carma2 - Soundproblem
I can switch to win xp, but only if other games run on Xp. What you think is a good config to play old Games? I have Voodoo3 3000, i think about to get a voodoo2. May be better compatibility. Tnt2 works fine with old Games, i can get other cards on Ebay. Riva or geforce chipsets, Whatever... Important is, it must work fine. The Problem is always the sound card.
I had tried on a old P3 with Ac97 Sound Card. And now with Athlon XP with Soundstorm. What is the best hardware?

Re: Carma2 - Soundproblem
So this wasn't a Carmageddon bug?
Re: Carma2 - Soundproblem
