Is it just mine?

Post by Deep_Blue »

Or does anyone else's Carma95 (C1) crash after every race? (Running it in XP SP3)

:techsupport:

Can somebody tell me how to find out why?

It's a known issue but it's been quite some time since I heard about someone encountering it.
Never had it myself.

Do you have addon cars installed?
Does the problem still occur if you start a new game?
Are you running CARM95.EXE with compatibility settings?

Yup. It ain't Carma w/o addon cars.
Yup, and yup.

I've got something like four or five addon cars atm. No matter what, every time I finish a race, it crashes to the desktop. (Could it have something to do with not waiting for all the time/credits to count down? I wouldn't think it should.)

Mmh..!
I too doubt that not waiting for the time/credits count down makes the game crash.

What copy of C1 are using? I mean, is it the C1 meld-pack, the GOG version, Mastro's SE, etc.?
Or maybe the US version?
Testing out the GOG version might be a good idea if it isn't the case already.
Or any of the other versions actually.
I personaly would advise to avoid compatibility settings if the game doesn't need them to run.

Are you also using the ddraw.dll mod? If not I encourage you to do so in the first place:

Read the configuration part, it's not complicated but helps you set it up to your likings.
Don't hesitate to ask for help on FB if needed.

Tosh-it's the Carma95 you gave me awhile back when I was having trouble getting my CD to run on XP.

I got that dll. I'll see what I can do with it.

Hey Tosh... I added that dll and did like the confg instructions said (basically just turn off all compatibility stuff) and it still crashes after a race..
This is the error I keep getting:
Carma95err.jpg
Carma95err.jpg (17.78 KiB) Viewed 5695 times
This time I hit "Ignore" and it uncrashed and I got got the wrecks gallery-then it crashed again upon hitting "OK" in the game's menu.
If I hit "Abort" or "retry" it just crashes straight away.
??

Woah that's one hell of a crash!
That error message doesn't ring a bell at all.

Have you tried other Carma95 versions? Even though I doubt it could make a difference.

Could you maybe try one of the C1 packs out there? Like Mastro's SE or my old Meld pack? Just to check if it crashes too.
Or testing the GOG version!

Nah... Ya know I think I'll just keep restarting it and picking up where I left off before the crash. T'ain't that big of a deal and mebbe I'll get lucky and figure out why it crashes there.

It's quite some time since this problem was reported, however there is no solution. So my theory is that this is caused by inappropriate Crush Data. Exactly same thing happened in original SP with min-coop car (fixed in my latest patches already, by remove some problematic part of data). But only when player drive this car and only with Win95 version of exec. So probably your favorite car wich you are driving cause that problem. Since all other stock cars are fine (sled and bugutti are fixed too, but that cars cause crash at random points) I gues custom one must cause that crash, since Crush Data is useless there the solution is to remove it.
