Carmageddon 1 funky colours.

Post by TheJabMan »

Ok, so you know the Drugs poweru right?

Well it's like that except all the time, no flashing and only some of the colours are affected.

I thought running it in 256 colour mode would fix it, but no dice.

Running the melded C1 pack in Windows 7, works great other than the funky colours.

How does one solve this?

I remember having this problem before, many moons ago. Can't actually remember how I fixed it.

Did you try and upgrade your graphics cards drivers?

1990 Nissan Micra K10 L (my first car, currently in long term storage)
1995 Ford Escort Mk6 1.3 CL (current everyday car)

Nothing to be Ugh about. So far the only issue is it has funky colours in Caramageddon 1, and thats without it needing any directx workthrough, or sound setup.

So far it's run everything I've asked... my only reason I delayed getting it was because of the COD4 punkbuster thing, which has been resolved.

anyhow, back to the topic at hand, funky colours. I'd show a screenshot but the screenshots come out fucked up for it :/

Try messing around with the different options in the compatibility settings.

Also, try and install a virtual Win 98 OS using Virtual PC. That may work.

Yeah, looks like DOSbox, or that DirectX thing that was posted a bit ago will have to be used. As far as compatability goes and so on, tried all that... I was hoping the running in 256 colours might do the trick, but the funky colours are part of C1's 256 colour palette anyways.

ah well

Lol, just open resolution settings and THEN run the game. This issue springs up in like every 256 color custom-palleted game. and opening resolution settings window and then running the game solves it.

Happened to me in Starcraft.

That has got to be the weirdest fix, though it works for some reason, even in Win7.

It's like the Red Faction Guerrilla DX9 fix, clicking away from the program folder before the game loads lol.

Thanks though!

You're welcome. And yes, windows are funny with things like these.
