Need some good directions here, fellas...

Post by Deep_Blue »

OK. I've been searching for awhile now because I've got a craving to play C1 again (I miss the cops chasing me which C2 just doesn't have), and I'm looking for a fairly decent way to get C1 to run in XP.

I've seen the threads about running it under dgvoodoo and vdmsound and am willing to try that method. Anybody got a surefire way to make it work?

I'm using an Acer Aspire One netbook which surprisingly enough runs most games/apps that wouldn't run on many other XP machines I've had. Many old DOS games just instantly work (Corridor 7, Operation Body Count, DOOM I, etc.)

I have:

WinXP Home SP3

Mobile Intel 945 Express Chipset graphics adapter (Already runs C2 in DirectX just fine)

RealTek Hi def soundcard

Original Carma 1 CD (That I'll fully install using an external USB CD drive)

"carmacrk.exe"

VDMsound already installed (for running games like Redneck Rampage)

The only limitation that I can see I might have is the screen resolution. Fullscreen for me is 1024x600 due to the netbook's screen size.

Toshiba gave me a copy of C1/Splat Pack melt, it works for me (32bit WinXP SP3), It runs fine at the default screen resolution with no Glidewrapper and no AA or any other forced GFX settings, for me, it doesn't look too good but it works.

It does include a VDMSound 2.0.4 installer but you already have that so you wont need to bother with that.

Hope this works
