Bluescreen when viewing replays C2

Post by TheJabMan »

So, actually this applies to both C1 and C2...

If I try to watch a replay, it bluescreens when I rewind. I can go into replay and spin the cam around no problem, but as soon as I rewind for a second, boom.

What the ass? Anyone had said issue?

Well i didn't encounter a problem like this... But it could game, drivers or even OS problem...

So try thiese steps to get around this:

1. Try to reinstall game(s) and/or driver(s); cleanup your pc from junk and other unwanted software including viruses and spyware, etc.

2. There could be some errors in your drives. Check them using command line tool (if you're using XP):

2.1. Open Start=>Run... enter cmd click OK or hit enter

2.2. in cmd window type chkdsk /f [drive letter]: e.g. chkdsk /f c: If it asks if check it on reboot input y (it's one from choices it shows)

2.3. reboot. It checks your drive on restart.

3. If there still are some errors do system reinstall. Backup any essential data (programs, documents, drivers) in other medium such as cd or flash drive or other hd; Wipe all contents of hd (you can use Dariks Boot and Nuke for example) coz there could be lots of junk there than do clean install.

4. check other hardware if it isn't faulty and update any drivers, bios, etc...

What kind of bluescreen?

A Blue screen of death or a blue screen when watching the replay.

Recording using the ingame record button will result in a video that is just a blue screen, I think this is due to using a Glidewrapper, I'm not sure.

If it is a BSoD then take juozas' advice.

I'm not new to computers, I mean everything is updated regularly.

It's strange, originally I thought it was a memory problem but the same thing happens on both my computers.

I have an old AMD Barton 2500+ with a 7600GS in it and it has the same problem.

I can't recall if this used to happen in Vista, but I know that my old computer used to be able to do replay's without incident... Might have something to do with an XP update.

Razor's trying to help and you don't even answer his question. So is it BSOD or the replay is all BLUE?

We don't even know what the problem is and yet we now know your entire computer history.

Well more ways to get around this could be if we know:

1. What versions of Games You're having? Patches, mods, hacks, etc.? Have you clean (i mean not scratched enough) cd's?

2. What glide wrapper if any you have?

3. What is your info for processor, display card, sound card, and any other hardware?

4. How many memory do you have? How is the HD size?

5. What os, programs, etc you're having?

Taht would help later if all things are known and we could try then to find a solution for this...

And last question: How PC behaves on error? BSOD? Game frozen? Other weird behaviors (sutch as some sort of display problem or anything)?

I'll see about the onscreen controls, but my gut is telling me it's got something to do with memory.

The fact that it happens on two very different systems sort of craps on that theory though.

I mean, the only thing the two systems have in common is the motherboards were made my ASUS, and replay's worked fine at one point. Not to mention as far as program/driver conflicts go my older system is extremely barebones, it's just an operating system, with 4-5 old games like Doom/Duke/Carma. The system is used pretty much as a DVD player and the only drivers installed are for it's hardware which hasn't changed since last time it wasn't fucking up in Carma games.

Also, as far as Tosh said about the glidewrapper, C2 is using one, but I'm not trying to run C1 in 3DFX mode just software with the -hires tag, I'm using Tosh's C1+Splat pack meld. (which works awesome on lan in XP)

I should be reinstalling Vista again soon, so we'll see how that fly's I guess.

I think Vista may be a problem too... Did you try other older OS?

For memory, use Memtest86 to test if it isn't faulty. Remove unnessaccery hardware to check with (or its driver) may be faulty.

You should download MS Virtual PC and install Windows 98SE on it. I done that and got C1 running on it. It takes a bit of configuring but it works fine in the end.

I had them both running under Vista 32 before.. I'm actually using XP at the moment.

I had a wonderful run-in with this virus that infects the file that governs all the exe files used by your system, then infects them all. It was awesome... luckily it only affects .exe files so backing up most things wasn't that bad but I never reinstalled Vista again... not sure why, It's a decent OP.

Yarr, had to use the D3D thing fer Vista as well, not so in XP.
