Vista no sound

Post by peyote »

Hi,

Spent 12 hours trying to get carmageddon 2 to work on vista yesturday and finally done it but I have no sound and if I try to launch the game using "carma2_HW" all I get is a black/blank screen. At the moment I use the standard "carma2.exe" and this works fine but as I said no sound.

Any help please

Also does a Sapphire RADEON X1650 PRO 512mb graphic card work ok with that "glide wrapper" ?

Thank you for any help

are you using glide wrapper?

http://www.zeckensack.de/glide/

also click on program properties box and run in compatibility mode for windows 98

and change screen resolution to 640x480

You need the updated carma2_hw.exe file (I think it's the XP/no-CD version). Then right click on it and select properties and go to the Compatibility tab. Run the program in compatibility mode for Win98/ME and check "Run in 640x480 screen resolution". Then run carma2_hw.exe directly and providing you set up the glide wrapper correctly, C2 will run in the largest res specified in the glide wrapper and will have sound.

I read the part on GEH's post, but only part of what you informed me was there. I thank you. Really.Hours of annoyance avoided.
