Another problem with add-on tracks for Carma2

Post by Mirage »

I have downloaded some add-on tracks for C2, but when I saw the content after they were unzipped, there was only 'data' folder with everything in it, but I couldn't find a TWT or C2T file in Notepad to put into data/Races.txt.

I tried to create its own C2T file in Notepad. I did it, I put it in the Races.txt and started the game. Everything went fine until I selected that track to play. When the loading screen appears, the computer throws me back into the system without any message or problem report.

The only thing besides the 'data' folder was a readme file, which says: 'Install it like any other track. For more detailed instructions visit my page under 'Map Installation Guide'. And I tried to, but I didn't find anything on that website. The website is Toxic Ragers.

Please help me. What to do to make that track work?

Well, I'm guessing your edited RACES.TXT is ok since you were able to select the new level from the menu.

Which track are you trying to install? Did you grab all the necessary files?

For example converted C1 tracks need the additional NONCARS.ZIP.

Here's a similar thread with more information on installing tracks

There is only that readme and 'data' folder contains only a 'races' folder. Should I still try to create a C2T file?

"There is only that readme and 'data' folder contains only a 'races' folder."

Yeah? That's what is supposed to be there. Just unzip into your "Carmageddon 2 Carpocalypse Now" folder.

Make sure "Use Folder Names" is checked when you extract so everything goes in the proper place.

Should I still try to create a C2T file?

I'm confused. I thought you said you were able to select new track from menu

You didn't answer any of my questions. You want help or not?

I'm trying to install 600ftUnder track. I grabbed everything in there. There is still no 'Noncars' folder.

I've put everything where it is supposed to be. But I still need the C2T file. I tried to replace 'Nice Beaver' race with this (600ftUnder). I wrote everything right. I try to play it. And I'm thrown out without a message. I guess I need that 'Noncars' folder for that track to make it work. Anybody knows where can I find it?

If you would like to know the exact reason you got booted out of your game-run it in DirectDraw (software-Carma2sw) mode and it'll tell you why. HW mode doesn't do error messages.
