Hi!
I was delighted to get carmageddon 1 to work on my computer with XP (with the tutorial in these forums). It is one of the dearest childhood classics of my life. However, the game seems to be a bit too fast. I could live with the fastness of the game itself, but the timer is way too fast, I think twice faster than I remember it was (atleast it is twice as fast as normal clock seconds).
So is there any way to fix this? If the game cannot be set slower, then maybe the timer can be slowed down?
Specs:
ATI Radeon 9800Pro 128mb
AMD Athlon 3200+ 2,2 GHz
1024 of ram
-Thanks!

C1 counter too fast!
Re: C1 counter too fast!
Dunno 'bout slowing it down unless ya wanna try something like CPUKiller-but that's just crap.. Type "IBETYOUCANTPRINTCUNT" and hit SHIFT+0 and the timer will stop altogether.

Re: C1 counter too fast!
I had the same problem!
are you useing the glide wrapper or only the patch for XP?
If you are using the patch only try to set the compatibility mode to win 95!
->right click to the exe->compatibility->compatible to win 95
with the glade wrapper you should try this:

with the glade wrapper you should try this:
1) Install Carmageddon 2 (standard install, just click setup.exe then nexts but NO to QuickTime 3.0 and DirectX 6 installations)
2) Download and installed zeckensack's glide wrapper (see DosFreak Post)
3) Open Glide wrapper window.
4) Right click on "Carmageddon 2 Carpocalypse Now" shortcut under Start > Programs > Interplay > Carmageddon 2... and then click properties. Click Compatibility tab and then click the box by "Run this program in compatability mode for:" and select windows 95. Check "Run this program in 640x480 if you have problems with the game (though I didn't) Then click OK to close the box
5) Run Carmageddon 2 using the start shortcut you just edited. Use the Glide renderer, as it should detect and default to.

Re: C1 counter too fast!
Well, I mentioned I was playing carma1, not 2. Carma 2 works just fine in XP and glide wrapper.
I guess I have to go with the cheat then. Damn.

Are you using the instructions from this thread? :
http://www.cwaboard.com/ubbthreads/show ... o=&fpart=1
If you scroll down I posted instructions on changing the timer.
cmd into the carmageddon directory through command prompt.
start > run > type "cmd"
cd carmageddon (or naivate to your carma directory)
paste this: dgvoodoosetup $FirstFound$:0 /platform:dos /timerboost:15
Change /timerboost:15 to /timerboost:30
Play with this value. Higher values will slow the clock down but it makes the game feel jerky even though the FPS is fine.
I found 15-25 was the best compromise.
