jaws.txt sounds like a game file that is missing or corrupt, probably for a car or another object in the game, i dont know what it is since i dont play tdr that much.

The file is a particular pain in the arse. Assuming that you have a LEGAL copy, and that your data source isn't damaged, then the reason why it does that is because a instalation has gone awry. Re-installing will not work. You need to uninstall, and then do a CUSTOM install. If you don't have the most current direct x drivers installed, then get them. Also, you need to make sure that you don't have any other non-supported carma appz running, like editors, modifiers, cheats, etc. Add on cars are bad. The shark.txt is a file that goes to that shark that has wheels under it. Addons like that screw things up. Only LOD and DTD have reliable cars. Dont goto anyone else, cause they rarely work. So heres the list of what could be wrong...

you installed a addon that sucked.

you have a warez version of the game

you have a damaged instalation disc

your direct x drivers are not current

your hardware drivers are not current

you misread the error

Dude, you have no idea what your talking about...

Jaws is made by Torus..you know..the people that made the whole game...it's not an Add-On by some 3rd party like the LOd and DTD ones etc...If you have the NoseBleed Pack All cars work fine..

If you have a warez copy..everything works fine...

I'd suggest a complete uninstall and reinstall tho...thats how i usually get rid of errors..The error you get is from a NoseBleed car..i have no idea if you can extract the txt file from the car or even how the file structure looks like (if you have the nosebleed pack or the patch)..

Anyhow..sounds to me if you can get hold of that txt file and swing it into the cars folder the error should be gone and you should save yourself from reinstalling the whole shitty game.

sorry for my jibbering..still stuck in last nights night out....

He's right (for once ), the only thing i can thik of about that is that the patch messed up when it was installing, it does that sometimes, it uninstalls parts by accident caused by an error.

Reinstall like rave said.

Oh, and it's not 'Nose Bleed PACK' it's the PATCH you have (tdrupgradepatch.exe).

If all fails then copy the dbg.txt from your game into here, theat should say some more info about the problem.

Ok Im goign to run this into the ground but

Addons usually cause this problem. (ooh you were right) mainly the nosebleed patch causes this problem for me. I just dont install it.

Warez versions of games tend to run more stable than the original. Unless your a tard and can't figure out how to install something.

Damaged cd's most commonly give errors on Installation. Not after.

XP comes with LATEST Direct X Drivers

XP comes with LATEST Hardware Drivers

Go back and read the whitepapers on XP and Software installation and Do not comment On something you know nothing about. I have been a Tech support rep for Covergys Corp. as well as IT Security Administrator for 5 years. Granted it gives me no room to flame you in here, but talk about what you know. Never assume anything. If you don't know state that you don't know. No one will think less of you.

sorry just got up I'm a bit cranky.

Later

well my guess is, in the Cars folder is a folder called Jaws an there is no Jaws.txt in it, then creat a jaws.txt, don't matter on the info in it it won't effect the game! or/an if there is no folder named Jaws try installing CarPack2 from Carmageddon.com an that should fix it!

i have found using tdr on many different pcs and configurations that the problems, mainly direct x errors but many ather types also are nothing to do with the windows version or direct x version or graphics/chipset drivers but the game simply does not work properly or even at all on any graphics cards later than geforce 3, hope this clears things up for eveyone
