C2 video choppy using a GeForce2 MX400
C2 video choppy using a GeForce2 MX400
I cant get rid of the video stutter while running C2. My system specs are:
Celeron 533
256mb ram
GeForce2 MX400 64mb video
94% system resources free
20gb HD
50X CD drive
I suspect that the stutter is caused by my video card not handling D3D very well. Anybody have some tips to optimize C2 using this setup? Ive tried turning down graphic options in the game, but it doesnt make a difference. If I cant get C2 and a couple of other games to perform better in D3D, Im gonna put the Voodoo4 32mb card back in since C2 ran flawless in 3DFX.

Re: C2 video choppy using a GeForce2 MX400
the video's choppy cause thats how the video is. The game designers oboviously didn't know how to use the software. If its really bad, it may have something to do with your sound card.
Re: C2 video choppy using a GeForce2 MX400
define your video studder ...
does it do it when your watching a replay ?
or when you are recording the video ?
or when you have made the QT movie and start watching that ?
also, list what version of directX you are running

The stutter occurs during gameplay and it doesnt happen until several opponent cars get close to me. Then its so bad it looks like a frame by frame slow motion video. Im running DX8.

Re: C2 video choppy using a GeForce2 MX400
I just installed a GeForce 2mmx and im haveing problems out the ass with it,when i first installed it, carmageddon 2 ran perfect, so i checked out tdr, it got all fucked up and crashed out, now it crashes out at variouse time in any program, even when im at my desktop doing nothing, i checked my system in the control panel it says the card is working properly, when i try to run my direct X setup or whatever it is, it will run for a minute , let me do some graphics test, then crash, sometimes it will just crash the program when i start, i looked through my programs i have in the uninstall/install icon in my control panel, i found my old ATI driver, i tried to uninstall it and it says " error initializing", what the fuck should i do??????i really need some help here bad, i cant hardly do anything.

Sounds like a software conflict to me, tricky job installing new cards, especialy if you dont know what your doing.
Try getting new drivers for your card. If that doesnt help then take your computer to a specialist to sort it out. It wont cost much and it will be fixed pretty quick.

Nope, Im running Win98 SE

If youre having driver conflicts, go to safe mode and that should let you uninstall old drivers even if you get errors.
It's quite simple really.. allways when installing new graphics cards, uninstall the drivers from the old one..

i have a different problem though now, i cant play C2 with win2k, i dont know why, my friend has 2k and all the carmageddon's run perfect, i need to get the system patch but its 101mb, i connect at 28.8, would take me 15 hours to get it, i dont know if that would fix it, i just want to know what he has in his system that allows c2 on a 2k platform.its driving me crazy! i use to play that game many many times a day, im sure it will get fixed eventually.I hope.
Re: C2 video choppy using a GeForce2 MX400
If you mean SP2 you don't have to get the network install (the huge full lot) you ccan use the express install and it will get just what you need about 20megs I think.
Also 3 thingys to try
1: SP2
2: conpad updates (after the last one you should be able to right click and app or short cut and go to properties and then conpad and pick run in 98 mode.
3: cracked V2 patch
