Direct X error and add-on cars question
Finally I found CTDR and thought I will can play it but... I have DirectX 9.0 and the game requires DX 7.0! But when I click START for the second race (Send In The Sharks) it crashes and shows me DirectX error! I chose the nVIDIA GeForce (mine is 6600 GT) from the menu that shows up after installation and the resolution. Only the 1st race runs ok. Then I see this error message. How can I fix it?
I found add-on cars and put them where they should be but only an old chevy appeared in the game. All other cars have an exe-file and when I run it I receive error message about a file OCX which isn't anywhere on my PC. I think it would be much easier if somebody creates something like Carstockalypse and install cars by it.

Re: Direct X error and add-on cars question
Yeah - I have that direct X error as well, every second race is a mission which has some sort of dodgey camera cut scene thing - thats causing the error.
Anyway, I couldn't fix it but got around it by telling the game to run in "software render" mode.
It looks horrible but after that mission is done you can then change it back to driect 3D and enjoy the next race
Oh and like I said - every second race is a mission, that means as soon as your done with that race you'll need to go back into software redner mode again.
There are 3 missions per group and 7 gropus (8 including "the jump" which is just 1 race but that too is a mission)

Fraud Broko,
about the OCX error:
Many cars use this exe setup system.
I have a program called system.exe I downloaded from somewhere.
I think it is for fixing this error when installing cars.
However, I can't upload it here because it is too big.
Does anyone else know where our friend Fraud can get this file?
You might do a search for "system.zip" or "system.exe" or "install" on the forums.

Re: Direct X error and add-on cars question
alternatively you can search for the name of the ocx and download it on the web, just put it in your system32 folder. I think it is the common dialog ocx. (comdlg32.ocx) it will be in the system.zip, on the installs that I made for that programing. unfortunately it doesnt exist on LOD....

Re: Direct X error and add-on cars question
yes, there are a couple of carma networks on there:
NETWORK: carmageddon tdr 2000
PASSWORD: 1234
NETWORK: Carma666
PASSWORD: carmageddon
From my understanding there is a limit to how many people can ever join a hamachi network.
So its probably best not to join unless you really intend to play.
Carma666 is mostly full of people that are never online as far as I know.
I've got up to 4 people (including me) in a game at one time before.
Fun stuff.
I prefer hosting a knockout race with random cars.
I mostly am available to play in afternoons and evenings in central US time zone.

if you used the group title everyone online can see when you chat.

This thread died 2 years ago, stop resurrecting old topics, it's really starting to piss me off.
It's not just you by the way, it's many people, they come here and don't look at when things were posted, it's easy enough to spot when it was posted for christ sake.
