hmm, thats really weird, it should have anything to do with your specs, more or less I think it would be the background image, the image of the map, the objects that you see are the sprites, the map is only the background, and it would seem the backgrounds arent working properly for you ... I cant think of what you should do though, I never actually experimented with tdr tracks, an expert like Toshiba-3 should know what to do though.
This sounds like the nvidia Fogging problem, altho i have never heard it affect voodoo cards... anyhoo, run tdr gfx setup > advanced and untick 'pixel fog'. It *should* now work.
I agree with you there, but I noticed from playing on PCs with lower specs, the game crashes, and sometimes it continues on and there are many bugs ... I have seen my map like that on an older computer playing tdr, but i just quit the game and restarted it again, tho this seems a permanent problem, I doubt the compatability mode could change this either ?
