Just started Manta today, here's screen:

For rear-end and top I'm gonna use in-game screens...

And here's blueprints package - all 37 I'76 Nitro cars - maybe somebody else will need them...

No problem, I'll post her just like Lead Pumper - in two separated versions: 3D Max and Mafia ones.

Finally, I found some time to finish the body mesh... So here it is:

Some parts were rebuilt again, smoothing groups added, 3D intakers, improved wheel arches etc... 1664 polys.

And here's just a comic picture. '69 Manta from Vigilante 8 and Sid Burn behind the wheel:

The console version of Manta looks more like regular Corvette (twin headlights, non-fastback bodystyle etc.), but I suppose that paintjob like this will fit I'76 version very well too.

Anyway, I'm keep workin' on this one when I can, so soon I'll add interior and some exterior details, like taillights, headlights, 3D handles etc.

1664 polys? Is that the total polycount so far?
If so, it's quite nice indeed! But the poly distribution seems a bit unbalanced: not much on the hood and front for example, while the wheel wells are hipoly. But if it's only 1664 polys, I guess it's not that much of an issue then.

Yeah, they made very simple front part, don't know why here's no C3-like air-intaker or such things... Maybe I'll put this later.
Here's kinda progress on model (I still don't have enough god damn time to work on my projects faster  ):

Turnlights in 3D, grill is just a texture...

Kinda big bad mistakes here - with taillights and exhaust tubes - they're looks different in 3DFX-emulated version... Gonna rework this.

Yeah, this one isn't perfect... My only second scratch-made car, so I haven't enough knowledge to make 'em as good as they should be... Anyway, I'm keep workin' on my own models, so fixed version will be later.
As for C2, I upload this version on Rapidshare or so, if you're still interested in this Manta.

2 Harm: Thanks, I always like this Activision-customized Vette so I'd gotta make it
2 TTR: No problem, I'll upload this today just a bit later.
Also, just wanna show something interesting to all. Here's Cadillac Seville '76 out of Driver: Parallel Lines - they called it Regina, it has some minor design changes and great lo-poly model too:

I already got some of them by means of 3D Ripper - they should looks good in Mafia, so maybe somebody else can put 'em in C2 or so - this one, for example, has only 3282 polys - of course I didn't finish it already, but overall polycount can be 'bout 4000 polys or so...

And here I was thinking Parallel Lines never made it to the PC version...

The model looks quite nice indeed, and with that number of polygons. Is it hard to convert the textures of the models you get with 3dripper? Cause i tried ripping a car from Flatout 2 once, and found out the format is a little bit odd (didn't put much effort in founding out how to convert it but anyhow)

I started downloading parallel lines and Mafia too

2 TTR: Here it is: http://rapidshare.com/files/104240577/S ... 9.rar.html
2 Harm: What texture format do you mean? I didn't convert something out of Flatout 2 (anyway another Mafia-modder made his great Mafia Flatout car pack, contains both F1 and F2 cars - u can find it on MafiaPub.com or MafiaScene.com as well) - maybe u can send an example of ripped car? So that I'll figure out what do you mean to say.
P.S. Also u can use an ZModeler 2.x.x for F1/2 cars - but I don't know 'bout F2 support, only thing I know is that ZM imports F1 BGMs very well.

Very nice indeed for a second car! Keep up the good work R66C

I'll port your cars to C2 someday, not too sure when though. They need a lot of work to be ported correctly to C2.
The polycount is quite good, but the triangulation is often badly thought, I think it comes directly from the way you started to build the car out of the blueprint, but yet again it's only your second scratchmade car so you still have the time to improve!

@ Harm: The texture format is DDS (DirectDraw Surface format), a quite common format for a lot of games nowadays, it's very similar to the Targa format, but can store special attributes and mipmaps etc. There's a plugin for Photoshop I think somewhere, I personaly always convert them to TGA or else using XnView. 3dRipper also rename all the files into xxxxxxxx.dds where x are hexadecimal values (0-F). 3dsMax is able to import everything (both 3d scene and textures) right away without having to convert anything.

2 Tosh: Yeah, I hope that I'll improve my car-modeling skills... I'll try to make another car or two outta I'76 sometime, so I'll post here. Also, I'll try to fix my first two models (Leadpumper and Manta) too a bit later.
2 Harm: And here's Caddy:

Low-Poly but nice... I changed it a little: simple 3D steerwheel, less overall-wide (just like real-life Seville, 'bout 5,1x1,8 m), remade smoothing groups... Some skins/colors later maybe.

And yeah, this Caddy contains many detachables, so you can lose 'bout half of the car on your way  ...

Also you'll find later another news 'bout DM-project here, 'cause it's still in development by means of the rest of the team.

Thanks, TTR. The only thing I gotta say 'bout my problems - is that's because of ugly and weird local laws 'bout army service... They even don't interesting - do ya' studyin' in university or not. Kinda madness maybe, huh?...
Anyway, I found out what car I wanna make, so... Anybody can help with references for Holden HQ? 'Coz I really like Nightrider's '72 Monaro Interceptor from Mad Max and wanna make it in 3D...

Or you could use my model from the RedBat Rocky car, its the same car, different type though but it's very close alike. I do have the 3dmax file too! I think i even zipped it with it but coded it to prevent stealing..i'll check it out and if you want it i'll PM you about it.

BTW, some updates in world map... This is really almost finished part of map - the only things will be added is collisions and maybe light-maps. This little town is used now as base for the whole DM-world, other parts (highways, lakes, etc.) will be attached to it... I'll post some of my Dusty Trails stuff later, but now some screens of the town (thanks to people who kept workin' on it when I disappeared for a small time):

---
Yeah, another great aussie! Great car, TTR! Also, I see you made it by the means of movie-screens?... Maybe for the Holden I gotta try this too (looks like these wonderful aussies is really hard to find in blueprints... I had no luck with 'em) - but don't have Mad Max 1. I hope I'll find it somewhere...
As for the XA - of course, it would be great to create another Pursuit Special like XB Falcon and HQ Monaro. So, I'm interested in this one, and when you'll be able, PM me 'bout this aussie, I wanna take a try!

Well, just finished Ford XA Falcon 'Red Bat' that TTR modeled, so here we go:

Has detachables, working front lights (only  ), Real Driver supporting Hood, and I change the drivers placement - from right to left.
Now I gotta some modifications on my mind - MFP (well... Not a replica kinda Last V8, just an old idea 'bout something closer to Nightrider's Monaro) and stock version. Will see, anyway.
P.S. And thanks again for great model, man, she looks fine in driving :sglasses: !

Pritty? Now what is that? :fts:  you mean pretty.

W00t, cool stuff there R66C..but doesn't mafia have a function to enable double sided polys? i can see through alot of bodyplating.

Also i see too many errors from myself (one beeing the gaps between the hoods) oh well.

Well... Here we go.
Mafia engine has double-sided feature, well, it's included in original models... For now the only program that allows to do it - 4DS Manager - is very unstable, so in most cases it disables reflections, mess with the textures, etc... I prefer to do it by myself, just like ol' times  . Maybe I missed something, maybe it's just a bad screenshot, maybe it's even a glitch - dunno why but my old NVidia MX 4000 doesn't want to work correct with Mafia Z-Buffer somehow. But I sure that I made 2-sides to most of the parts that needs this...
Also, I'm planning the whole remake in my Interceptor version, so I hope that I'll get rid of all the troubles that we have here now.

But look at the back on the picture with the detachables gone...i can see through most of it. Unless..i'm crosseyed :nyaha:

Anyway, it's not a final version, so I'll figure out how to fix it.
And, the work is goin' on (XB GT Version, but I decided to keep front Red Bat spoiler):

Front View:

Side View (yep I also changed wheels placement a little too):

Full Car View (back isn't changed so much but it will be):

And yeah, I decided to keep it compatible with original skin:

P.S. Nope, I didn't mean classic Last V8 Interceptor, it will be something... Different.

Well... I've just arrived yesterday from the countryside...
Let me announce something special. Well, it's my 3-rd full scratch-made project, also the first photo-based one.
The car is the '71 Stutz Blackhawk (I'd got 'bout ~60 random photos of this beauty), so look at the very first results:

After feedbacks for my previous cars, I'm trying to make the bodyshape more detailed and accurate. I suppose this one will be great addition for Mafia as well as for C2  . Any suggestions maybe? Now it got 1243 polys (only one side), but I'm planning something about 7-9 K.
Also, if anybody has underbody/exhaust photos, that would be great...

Well... Just a nice shot of the car:

Also, the XB GT Interceptor is still in work... I'll show something later.

P.S. Killer 11, thanks! I'm just can't wait when I'll be able to continue developing just like some months ago... That was great time...
