Well, actually the full version will be 'bout 15x20 kilometers, but now the demo project will include only 'bout 5-20 square kilometers.

[edit]: BTW... The other part of the map will be included too, but it will not be as detailed as demo-part. Just a background 3D stuff...

My bad... I put this request in wrong topic - it should be here.
So, can anybody convert these in 3D Max 3.1/8:

http://carmageddon.3dactionplanet.games ... age1.shtml
http://carmageddon.3dactionplanet.games ... age2.shtml

Because I got the permission but still don't know how to convert them in Max((.

BTW - Maybe, if everything will go OK, first alpha-release of Desert Mobsters can be posted for public in next 2 weeks... So I'll tell ya'll when it will be. Anyway, it will be ready before the end of the year, just like I said before.

I'll convert them as soon as I have enough time.
Should be done by the end of this week.

Good work so far, I see

Bad news. The second member of the DM team catched virus on his PC, so right now it's impossible to say how much information are damaged... I hope it's possible to save all necessary DM information.

Thanks!
Well, almost all the information are still useable - just some troubles with scrapyard we're experienced - but they're not fatal anyway. As about the server - yeah, I'd offer this idea, so right now here's a little free site in the Web, contains whole the backups.
And, I've found another way how to make MCO-cars looks better again - I'll post some stuff in this post just a little bit later.

P.S. I'd found out that here's more than my list were in MCO - in some later versions it had '53 Chevy 3100, '55 Chevy Cameo, '56 Ford F-100, '70 Buick GSX... Does anybody knows - is those updates still online somewhere? Because I wanna try out those cars...

Finally, I found out who is author of original NFS4 Caddy '67 model. She were released for NFS4 in 2001, and author is Buck Murdoc... If I'll get his permission - I'll post her for those who want more Carmageddon feeling in Mafia  .

Anyway, I fixed her a little again, tomorrow I'm gonna make these race numbers - like on original Otis Caddy, and that's it - I'm not planning to make her more high-poly, 'cause I like original lo-poly Mafia-cars style.

Thanks, guys! I wanna see her in C2 too... But here's no answer on my mailbox from original model author - anyway, I'll keep try to contact with him for permission to public release.
Here's some screens again - 5 Carma-styled, and 3 is just a close-distance screens.

Fixed textures (again) and those race markings that I told 'bout before. At this time, she got 3787 polys (no engine/trunk, but opening doors, fixed lo-poly interior, 2-sided surfaces where they were necessary, some additional polys, such as missed in original one or between some parts) - so I'm think she'll fits C2 as well as Mafia...
Maybe I'll convert her in 2-door version, as the actual Caddy Fat Cat - dunno... Cause 4-door version looks good too...
And of course if everything will go well with permission for public release, I'll post her for C2-convert.
P.S. As for the next Carmageddon-styled projects I'm keep thinking 'bout total remakes of the base models or replicas of Leadpumper or Hevy Impaler - these three beauties are my favourites in C1  . As I know, in concept-arts Hevy Impaler was an Aspen/Volare '78-'79, yeah?... As for Leadpumper - does anybody know something about concept-art model? Some screens maybe?

Thanks, TTR! Hevy Impaler is really Aspen/Volare... Maybe I should think about this - in-game 80-ish or concept 70-ish... Too bad here's no Leadpumper. Only thing I can say - she should be Chrysler or Continental 74-79 I suppose...
And yeah BTW just finished C2-oriented Fat Cat, she's got only 4009 polys in this version... I made simple trunk and underhood, than put lo-poly Big-Block in it (I used SA as a base), modified it a little... So only thing is necessary to see her in C2 is to make some detachables, maybe remap (I'm not familiar with C2-UV-system requirement unfortunately...) and convert her in DAT...

Yesterday I finally decided about two other cars - which I prefer to see first), and this is Leadpumper. I decided to take old '97 SCI model as the base for my version, so here's some start screens:

Just a side view:

Yup, I gonna make her as smooth and good lookin' as possible):

And here's wireframe of the side windows:

Today's progress:

- She's got 2025 polys in this variant. Looks like it will be 'bout 3000-4000 polys in all, just like I planned...
Also I reduced it's Width a little, to make her looks more closer to real-life Chryslers.
Next stage is hood remake...

Here's reworked front part (still no fan or engine stuff through).

Well, she's not so smooth as can be - I'll fix it later.

That how does it looks like with textures, reflections etc.

It's quite nice, but I hope you'll clean up the model afterward as the way you make up forms out of the mesh creates a lot of unwanted/useless tris everywhere, especially as the global look of the car is still very lowpoly.

Thanks for feedbacks!
2 TTR: Yeah, anyway, I can't convert her into DAT... Maybe someone else will when I'll finish everything.
2 Tosh: I agree, yesterday many of new polys weren't used... Today I just made some improvements (like 3D wheel-arches, just like SCI supposed by their textures, improved mid-body-line, so no more smooth between upper and lower parts of the body, separated doors etc.) - so many of them used by now - but if it will be possible, I'll reduce 'em.

Also, I got stuck with the rear-end, these taillights isn't looks well when they're in 3D... So maybe I'll change 'em to square "Chrysler mid-70" like styled ones.

Err... As for Carma models - as I said before I'm not familiar with DAT yet... So, Max 3 or 8...
---
I was busy with education - but finally I did found some time for this model, so here's next updates:

That's improver rear-end... Featuring meld SCI-Imperial taillights... As well as Imperial logo on trunk... And more detailed trunk cover:

Here's new vinyl roof and semi-3D handles (also doors are longer now... But the handles stills on their original places):

Optimised mesh, new windshield, sharpen mid-body-line, new smooth front-wheel arches, improved old SCI-bumpers:

Here's an underhood - with simple big-block engine and stuff - but no fan yet (in intro Lead Pumper have 6-bladed yellow one, and in game fan is rusty and 8-bladed... I'll try both of 'em later). Also it need texturing and normals-separate (to get rid of this "plastic"-looking), but here it is anyway:

---
All suggestions are welcome as usual.

Bad luck with that Caddy... No messages from original NFS model author... So let's wait for a while, huh? Anyway I suppose that I can send it for personal use, right?

Oh, BTW... Here's screen of the fixed and ready-to-go Mafia version of my very first complex remake  :

This version will be released (because now it needs performance data, unique shadow, destroyed model etc.) in the end of the week I suppose, so I'll post download link here.

And as for new thread - that's maybe, or something like C-Tribute?... Anyway, now I'm tryin' to choose between Hevy Impaler, Blood Riviera (for this time I disliked my previous upgrade), original Fat Cat and Cow Poker... I'll post something one of 'em later.

Sorry for long delay, here's download link for my last work - includes custom sounds, performance, damage model, detachables, Real-Driver support... Supposed to work with both of Mafia versions - 1.0 as well as 1.1/1.2. RWData Patcher included.

http://rapidshare.com/files/95971712/Le ... r.rar.html

As for Caddy - seems like e-mail is dead... Maybe someone else knows how to contact with that guy, Andy "Buck Murdoc" Waters?...

And for the last - because I still dunno which car I wanna remake than... Started out to work with Dusty Trails Ocean Drive (Mist Me, Off Quay etc.) track. So, maybe here will be some screens later...

Yes, for this time, it looks even more better than before - I did some fixes (like more realistic looking chrome, moved dummies to correct seat points etc.) as well as rotating front fan... Unfortunately - it's not possible to make this rotate w/o script, but anyway, it works... So one thing is necessary to make it work - to put simple init script in any mission where you wanna drive this one...
http://rapidshare.com/files/97716956/Compiled.rar.html
Includes custom specs (in RHAM 3.0 format), scene2.bin example (Free Krajina) where you will see how the script works, and script itself in TXT format - so BSV/DCED/etc. script editors necessary.
---
And here's new question - does anybody knows hot to export I'76 textures and meshes in 3D max or so?... Wanna take a try on that Ambulance and Hearse (Nitro Pack ones) as well as maybe other great cars...

LOL there's no good way to do that, when i skinned a car in I'76 (i acutally did it! not half arsed took it from another car like thousands of others).
You would've take the cars pix file (compressed file), open in in a hex editor then search file specific file begins and ends, then implant that in a new hex file, make a header and then it was still a pix file (single file), THEN put that one part of the skin as the roadmap (it was m ingame) then picture screen it and save it as TGA file. And then i don't remember how i got the name for the file, i believe it was in the hex part too.
Then i just had a door or so...

I would better do this: take a car, take shots from every angle you need, model it (as its a piss) and use the image for the skin.
Or use I'82 skins, you get them already in the right format on the cd

Thanks, TTR.
So, no ways to extract meshes?... Too bad... But anyway, they're put excellent exterior blueprints for each car - I'm think that it's even more useable for scratch-made, huh?... Too bad I can't get screenshots of that god damn car choice menu... Any special software necessary maybe?...
If anybody can shot some blueprints for each car from I'76 Nitro or original I'76 in good quality, please do it, that will be appreciated!...
P.S. God damn I like that Courcheval Manta '69  .
