Desert Mobsters Project for Mafia:City Of Lost Heaven.

Post by R66C »

Well, as I said before, I'm gonna give some information regarding our project.

Desert Mobsters for Mafia was born in this July... The main idea of this mod is to continue original Mafia story in the fictional Desert, based on the real topology of the region near Flagstaff, Arizona. Right now we're developing landscape and making the carpack for this mod (right now it contains old MCO-ers and Slayer's cars)... In next two or three days I'll take care 'bout some terrain stuff, and maybe will post it somewhere for download (for those, who want to see what we are doing), so I'll tell later 'bout this.

And here it is - Tosh had convert some of the Slayer's cars for me, and the first of them - '58 Edsel Citation in our desert...

PS We're don't have so many time as we're need to work on this project... But we'll keep to develop it as fast as we can.

[edit]: BTW, right now I'm dealing with '58 Fury... And little changes in Edsel right here:

How'd you like this new, more hi-poly wheels?

[edit]: I'd finished converting of '58 Fury. Here it is:

Now, I'm back to working on terrain and map objects.

Thanks, we'll keep working on those cars...

But now as I said before, i'm back to working on map. So, here it is, new bridge about 1 km length over this real deep river...

P.S. Sorry for this bugs with textures on landscape - now I'm think that I know how to fix it.

P.P.S. Maybe I'll change this bridge a little... Because of it's current simple model.

I had change the bridge a lot... Now it looks better, so it's time to put this ingame and make collisions for this, so here will be more screens soon...

BTW, I wanna make stock C2 Blood Riviera better and put this in our mod. Can anybody convert it in 3DS please?

If someone can send me the original Blood Riviera TWT (I don't have it anymore) I can convert it to 3DS directly.

Oh and nice work BTW !

Thanks Tosh! I'd post archive with TWT on rapidshare, so check your personal messages.

And here's news again: another member of our team almost finished junkyard, and this is the last place, that needs to be improved a little:

So, maybe today I'll put junkyard in desert and make some screens of this place.

Thanks for Riviera! I'd look at this model. Well, it looks like almost whole car must be remodeled... But I'm glad that body form is really good. So, I'll work on this car as soon as possible. Here will be some screens sometime...

Riviera almost finished. It has 1925 polys (the parts that shown on screens), better textures (I'd work on them in Photoshop) and will have simply steerwheel, like original Mafia cars. So, here's some screens:

P.S. Maybe I'll made stock Riviera '63-'65 out of this...
P.P.S. Of course, if someone likes this convert but wanna see more hi-poly car, I'll work again on this car... But not right now.

2 TTR: Of course I can. In Z3D, 3DS or MAX (3.1 or 8) formats... I'll test this in-game, than maybe work again on textures and mesh... So, in next 24 hours I'll finish this lo-poly version and can send it to you.

And after some minor changes, I finally had convert this Riviera in 4DS, that compatible with Mafia... So, here's ingame screens of this ride:

So, I'm think this is final lo-poly Blood Riviera version. I don't wanna make stock Riviera or more hi-poly version right now - it's time to work again on terrain and buildings... But I still got it in plans.

2 TTR: If you still like this version, just tell me, where I must send the files.

Hey, some pretty good stuff going on in your project !
Quite a good upgrade to the Riviera as well.

I'd kill to have such a nice farms/country environment in C2...

Also these trees are interesting, could be useful to replace most of C2 trees :heh:

Well, I can try to extract such resources as countryside objects and put them in the Max... But later - right now I've gotta some business with education, so I'll be back in modding in about week or two.

[edit]BTW, some of those trees are sprites with good textures...

[edit]Another screens... Some interior improvements from another member of our team here:

P.S. Here's no lightmaps, so maybe it looks a bit strange...
P.P.S. BTW, per-face-collisions for Mafia almost decoded, so progress will be faster soon...

It loaded correctly in my MAX, there's just like 50% of the polies flipped the wrong side.
80000 tris, that's a good polycount for C2 I think.

Thanks a lot for posting it !
Now the thing we are all wondering now :
Is it possible to do the same with the city ?... Or parts of the city.

The Lost Heaven City? Well, it's much more difficult than countryside - because of much more objects, needed to be placed on the map... But I can try.
P.S. Oh, BTW, maybe this will be useful - the list of Mafia 3D objects: http://www.mafpr.nm.ru/faq/3dmodels.chm - I can extract those objects if someone needs it for C2.

2 Tosh: BTW, I tried to export whole city in Max... Looks like this needs more time than I have now... Maybe some city-parts exporting I'll try later. And something about countryside - looks like I'd forgot to put trees and some buildings in archive... So if you still need those, I'll pack'em and send'em.

Thanks for caring, R66C, but if you don't have the time, just don't bother yourself with that ;)
I don't have a lot of time either anyway~

However I might start to work on the countryside anytime soon so I'd indeed like to get those trees and buildings, thank you.

That was too long... I had some troubles - my PC was almost dead... And then this unexpected troubles with studying... But now I'm back. My PC still need some old stuff from old PC, but anyway, I'm back to modding.
So if you still interesting in some Mafia stuff for C2, Tosh, I'll convert some of these things in MAX soon.
P.S. Does anybody knows the mail of Laurent Fraisse? He did good job on Slayer's cars... And if it's possible, i wanna convert these ol' 59' Chevys in Mafia, but I need permission:

Well, here we go: the Mafia stuff for countryside - I'd convert it in MAX 8. All necessary textures and objects included - of course some of them looks strange.... But I'm think that somebody will fix it for C2. Here's link: http://rapidshare.com/files/69473478/archive.rar.html
-------
Some test stuff out of my "Outskirt Motel"...

P.S. I used some Redneck Rampage textures, and it looks nice... And the car - yea, it's Slayer's '58 Citation...
P.P.S. Of course this is not end, I'll keep working on this.

That looks great. What do you use to create the new levels? 3DMax to make the models? Or is it done within the editor you use for Mafia?

Something were created in Max, of course. But I prefer ZModeler - not a Mafia Editor... But I used to this one. Almost all necessary tools are included - primitives creating, UV-mapper, vertex unificator, normals editor and other functions. And of course it allows to export objects in Mafia. But, because of it's not-Mafia-only purpose, sometimes it's necessary to edit manually objects in HEX. Here is the screen of this program:

Here's little something... Classic MCO Cadillac '47... Changed from original model. Contains 1812 tris. Here it is:

BTW, colors are token from original Cadillac brochure '47.

P.S. This is not only car that I done for demo pak, it's just an example of my MCO-conversions.
