Help with Maxines GTA car list

Post by Mad_Maxine »

Hey guys i know nobody will probly reply to this but what ive allways been trying to do is make a full list of every car and what the real thing is, pluss some nerdy homosexual guy keeps asking because hes obsessed with gta and what stuff is, So! most of it is done, as most of it is pretty odbvus, but there are a few blank spots, any help from car fans would be great, so heres the ones i havent yet figured out due to there generic car shapes,

Vulture, Challanger, Taxi

All apear to be mods of the same car, Mabye its game makers lazyness (making me think its a car that was never actully used as a taxi in real life?) but all the same id still like to hear ideas on what it is,

Image

Image

Image

Bulldog,

A fairly common coupe thats slightly faster than the avrage car, possibly some kind of japanese car, but i cant figure this one,

Image

Classic

A sporty vintage looking car i have no idea what the hell it is, im not so good with pre 1940s cars,

Image

So help out, or post stupid replys, up to you

I'm thinking the Bullfrog has the front end of a Porsche 911 Carrera, but I'm not sure about the back end of the car.

And the Classic looks like a Jaguar Mark II.

Tho in gta the window pillars are missing, making them all look like a coupe, despite the fact that there are opening rear door animations in the sprite, mabye they got lazy and just modded the same sprite? heh or mabye Im compleatly wrong... but one thing is for sure they are Deffinatly all the same car just diffrent models (or possibly the challanger is a modified car)

The Bulldog I thought may have been a Porsche 928.

The Classic I reckon is a Morgan 4/4.

The Cossie was an easy one, a Ford Escort RS Cosworth.

Maxine, If I was you, I'd check out sites about the Majorette die-cast cars. Majorette was the French version of Hotwheel, and I used to collect them a lot, as a kid, since they had suspension and all. When I started playing GTA, I noticed that the game makers used Majorette cars as to make the majority of the cars of the game. While Majorette did make some replica of real cars, they also did some fictious ones. Therefore, some of the car ingame might be creation of Majorette's designers. For exemple, the Classic might have been designed by Majorette over many cars. I used to have that one, and if I remember correctly, it was named something like classic, or other words like that, I don't think it was based on 1 real car specially.

I don't remember the name they gave to it in game, but, I'm pretty sure you'll know the car I'm talking about, the car with a glass sunroof, one of the cheap cars, slow and all, is based on a Renault 11.

I'm actually trying to download the game from Rockstar to help you more, but it seems that the download link just don't wanna work.

A lot of 'em are not ok.

I still maintain that the Mundano is a Renault.

Also the "Taxi" "Portsmouth" and "squad cars" are modeled upon Matchbox's Ford LTD model.

Also, I still maintain that RockStar used 1/64 slotcars/toys that they took picture of from above with little to none editing

Heck, check those picture, that proves it.

The Mundano (Majorette's Renault 11)

Image

Yeah, it's not from above, but look carefully at it, you even see the sunroof thingy. I had that one when little, and the sunroof was made in clearish yellow plastic and could be slide inside the roof, or outside, like a normal sunroof. Also, notice how the car is deformed. That was one of the default of Majorette, sometimes theirs models were deformed, and you can see that deformation on the Mundano too.

Limo (Majorette's Cadillac limousine)

Image

Again, see the nice sunroof? Also, notice how they didn't even took the time to color the nice wing thingy on the trunk?

Regal (Majorette's Volvo 760)

Image

They edited out the carved sunroof, but look at it, and see they're the same...

Taxi, Portsmouth, Squad Car (Matchbox's Ford LTD)

Image

Just picture that model in your mind from above, then just edit the ugly flashing lights...

Classic (Majorette's Whatever it was named at the time)

Image

See, again, Majorette's trademark, the difformity of the car, looking the same in game. People says it's a Morgan, but I just don't know, since I don't remember what the car was labelled at the time, so I will believe them. Oh and about the roof, it was plastic, that was hold in place by two tiny metal pins and the roof was soft enough to be removed from said pins.

Countash (Hotwheel's Lamborghini Diablo)

Image

They did edit a lot of the rear part of the car, but you can still see that it's that toy they used to make the game's car.

A lotsa cars made by a lot of toycar's makers

Image

Look at 'em, I'm sure you'll see some of 'em that look like the cars ingame. Heck, if you look at the Limo, you'll see that they used toycars.

I think I made my point.

The Mundano was a parody of the Ford Mondeo.

The Countash was a Lambo Countach.

Ok wow that pretty much shows it right there, the classic, thats.. the closest ive ever seen, its exactly right, thanks for sharing that with me, however im still going to argue the renault mundano thing, thats because if you open up the low res vertion of gta with less colors, and a single pallet for the entire game, the cars for some reson look diffrent, some are totaly remade, anyway in the lowres vertion of gta the Mundano looks exactly like a merkur

Image

so i can only assume that the mundano in the highres gta is just an alterd vertion of it? it still resembles the same shape even tho the headlights are not visable on the highres vertion yet they are on the lowres one, atleast thats what my meory says, i havent seen if tor a while so if someone could find a pic of the lowres mundano from gta one it would be apreciated thanks,

Damn i should have seen that limo

Image

you can even see the plastic interior reflecting in the same way

also thanks guys for all the effort your putting into this with me :P

Heh, that's ok if you want to write it as a Merkur, as if I'm right, we can't really know, since there's some differences after all. I guess it was modded. Still, the sunroof make me believe it was the R11 from Majorette they used as a base.

I finally found a shoot of the R11 from Majorette from rooftop.

Image

Image

About the Classic, the majority of people who owned it would just lose the damn roof over time, as they would either sometimes play with the car roof up or down (that was my case) or sometime the tiny pins (You can see them correctly on the picture, the round black thingy on the side of the roof) would just simply break. I've often saw the Classic in flea markets and I never saw one with the roof on it.

My guess is that when the guys at Rockstar decided what cars they would put in, one of the guys came up with the idea that they should try to find the toy cars they owned when kids and then take pictures of them from rooftop. For the modern cars they might've just bought viper toycars.

Also, I don't know if you noticed, as I've just noticed it myself, in the last picture that I had in my last post with all the cars, there's 3 Vipers that they have based the Mamba on (One blue with white stripes and a red one besides it, though there's a met. blue car between them and another one gray with something on the hood at the base of the picture). There's also a Viper GTS, I guess they used that model to make the Beast.

Yeah man im starting to see gta cars there too, infact i have a hotwheels toy that looks exactly like the flamer, the flame patern is the same and everything so ya, mabye they did,

btw unrelated point, i had a strange turquoice dodge viper with white strips convertible, and had racing numbers on it, it had suspension and the wheels would turn in the direction you tilted the car, any idea who made that? i never seen anything same these days, heh yeah i guess because of my lack of barbie i turned into a car freak with funny hairstyles, mabye they should make emo barbie?

Hmm... How did the wheels turn? Did you kinda had to press down on the car to make the wheels move in some wheel corridor thingy? If so, it might be a Majorette. I continued collecting Hotwheels/Matchboxes/Majorettes until around 10 years ago and I had a Citroën car made by Majorette (One of the last 1/64 I bought from "toy cars" compagnies) that had those kind of corridor for the wheel as I said, you had to press the car a little bit to activate the "mechanism" (if you press it too much, one of the wheel, normally the one that go "back" grind into the wheelwell and won't turn, but if you release, the wheels return to normal) and it was by Majorette. Around that time, Majorette started doing "fictional cars" and dropped almost all "real life" ones, so maybe you really have a deformed Majorette's Viper (I still have one of those, it's red, though it don't turn) or one of theirs fictional cars. And as I said previously, Majorette was the only company that I know of that had suspension on theirs cars. Also, as I stated before Majorette's had the habit of deforming theirs cars, making them larger that they normally were.

Though, again, if the car is kinda older, like 20 years old or sumethin, it might been made by another company I don't know of.

Would it look like that?

Image

This one though is a repaint made in 2005 and without the turning wheels.

If that's it, then, you had a Majorette car. Mine's was exactly like that but just plain red, without anything. No number, no marking, no anything.

And yeah, when I went to flea markets in search of rare 1/64, I've often seen the flamer, albeit most of the time without the hood. It seems to be easy to break it off.
