Mafia 2

Post by The_Bollocks »

Anyone play it yet? Downloaded the demo for the PC the other day and I was trying it out. Seems to be a damn good game. Might buy it next week when I get a bit of money together. Runs fairly well on my PC too (3GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM, Nvidia GeForce 8800GT).

Game play is good, don't really like the slightly offset camera to the right, which seems to be a big thing nowadays with third-person shooters. The little details in the game make it great, such as hubcaps coming off the cars and the tyre wall's that 'wobble' when you throw the car into a corner. The car handling is how you'd expect a 1940's and 1950's American behemoth to handle! Rubbish, but in a good realistic way!

Hope it's not too short like pretty much every game is these days.

1982 Ford Escort Mk3 1.3 L (restoration project)
1990 Nissan Micra K10 L (my first car, currently in long term storage)
1995 Ford Escort Mk6 1.3 CL (current everyday car)

Got it.

Shoot the tires, then watch the tires....OMG!

If you play the game you're in for a wild ride. Has different gameplay with each new event, i don't want to spoil so i can't say much..but it's an awesome experience, nothing like GTA at all. Don't mind the reviewers/critics..most users vote 8-10 for it.

About 20 to 30 hours to go through the main story.

Oh and the demo doesn't represent the full game at all.

Also, be sure to set the driving to simulation!

Apparently from what I've heard, it's been received by the community really badly due to the length of the story mode and a lack of free roam after the story mode's completed. A mod's been released to include the free roam option.

complete shit after for 6 years of development!!

1) lacks multi-player mode, every game in the entire world should have an multi-player option

2) no free roam! WTF its a sandbox game and lacks free roam - hack available for PC version at MMW

3) story is short, completed in 15hrs --- now what.. I dont have free roam god damn it!

Its good, but no way amazing like it should be.....

*bump*

I enjoyed the story, thought the ending was complete bollocks.

Was completely overwhelmed by achievements every few minutes too.

This game could have been the Game of the Decade..

EDIT: Seems the gaming industry is now completely overrun with console fanatics that want DLCs, what happened to the days when the PC version was slimmed down and ported to consoles.. Look at the first Mafia; hell, look at every game prior to 2005...

Razor, they don't care about us computer gamers. I really mean computer gamers (I'm a Mac user, and I only have a Windows dual boot on my machine because Macs can't get a .exe to work, but Macs have the same potential for gaming). What they care about it the console gamers. Any stupid kids can play on a console. Not the same on a puter, be it a PC or a Mac. Before when they trimmed down a computer game for a console they got the problem of "Please put discX in the console". So, now not to have games that take more than a CD or a DVD, they do the inverse. Game sales are higher for console version than for computer version. Also, us old gamers expect a game to be free of bugs, or else get free patches. The newbies with theirs consoles are WILLING to pay for patches.

See the difference?

Actually, i never payed for a patch on either consoles (not counting Wii here). DLC however, yes, that costs balls, but it adds stuff rather then fixing (like a patch does).
