Ok so, lets see this is not the best place to post but ill try,

I bought halflife 2 without reading the box, this is awsome, ill play this later, tryed to install it, wtf is steam? ok ill let it install, steam cant find dll, Damn i dont care, just install the damn game,

but no i cant install the game because a program called steam cant find a fine called steam.dll (wich does exist on my computer) But why cant i just play halflife 2, why?

can anybody help bypass this computer power leaching bullshit so i can install my game? otherwise im going to have to walk into the game store waving the game around yelling about how service sucks, scaring away customers and eating away at there proffits for selling me defective shit,

Hrm... in 2005 Steam did suck, but now Steam is awesome.

As far as your issue goes, why not DL the Steam installer from Valve, then try to install the game.

It is kind of a pisser that it has to be online and so on, as when I got HL2 I was on dial up, but you can make it run in offline mode once you get the game installed. You will still need to make a Steam account though.

It really is an excellent multiplayer tool, and anti cheat system.

I've recently had a problem with Steam..

I started it up and clicked on my games list to find it completely devoid of anything I've BROUGHT from Valve. I emailed some support address or something and I have no reply...

I stuck my Orange Box CD back in my drive yesterday to find out that I've ran out of installations or something because it just stops when it gets to installing TF2 and everything reverts back to as it was before.

So Valve have stolen over £50 from me and I cant even play what I paid for.

No wonder people go down the warez route.

No wonder, indeed. I've got Left 4 Dead standalone and I will be downloading the orange box standalone. Steam is the worst steaming pile of shit ever created.

I actually use Steam and its really not that bad you just need a good enough pc to run it. It just eats up most of your CPU processes when you're idling though. But if thats what you think of Steam, then thats fine, thats your opinion.

I don't use Steam at all anymore, not since every single one of my (PAID FOR) games got deleted, for no apparent reason.

I'm sticking to Warez for standalone Valve games from now on.
