Help to choose the best (laptop)
Help to choose the best (laptop)
I'm thinking about buying a laptop. It should be deathproof and able to run games normaly. What would you suggest ? Not thinking about mac book pro as it's price looks not very reasonable.
Re: Help to choose the best (laptop)
if you want to do gamming dont go for laptops there bloody expensive when they go wrong harddrives are the best for gamming
Re: Help to choose the best (laptop)
My 2 cents...
I suggest you look into a Toshiba Satellite. I own 2 (bought one a few months ago actually). My first one is about 3 years old, been packed into and unpacked from the lapper bag hundreds, if not thousands of times, it's even been dropped without the bag a few times, and still runs great. The battery even still lasts as long as it did when it was new.
The recent laptop I purchased was only $549 (brand new from Best Buy), not an ultimate gaming machine but will run most games released in the past few years with little effort.

It's worth a look at least

Avoid compaq like your very life depends on it, they SUCK, I mean suck! Mine cant even run c2 without overheating and randomly powering off. I really need a new machino yet im not much keen on spending more than $200 on a stupid computer?

If you have the money, you could go for an Alienware, although for a top spec. one, you'd nearly need to re-mortgage your house to pay for one!
I've never actually owned a laptop before myself, but from what I've heard from a few friends of mine, stay away from Dell's. Overpriced rubbish they are apparently.
If you have money to burn, something like this would do the job nicely:

It would probably play Crysis no problem.

Re: Help to choose the best (laptop)
@The_Bollocks: That laptop could probably run GTAIV at Very High to Highest settings with about 20 fps, the texture settings probably wont go higher than Very High and it could probably run Crysis on the Highest settings but at 25 - 45 fps with that, Crysis (A glorified FarCry ripoff) is unecessarily resource hogging (as is GTAIV) and that laptop is wayyyy expensive, I could find a PC with better specs than that for 4 times less than that.

I'm not a laptop person, I cant stand the things but as mentioned before avoid Dell and Compaq with both desktop and laptop computers, they are nothing but a waste of space, another place i will never buy a computer from would be PC World, they tend to cause more problems than anything.
I always use Eclipse Computers for my stuff, I brought my PC off of them just under two months ago and nothing has gone wrong with it other than the fact the bearings on the fan in the PSU are buggered but that may just be my luck.

From my expiriance I would say, stay away from HP pavillion. Didn't survive one year.

Well my friend has a Dell laptop (don't know which one it is though), and the speaker has went bust, the processor isn't working at full capacity, among other things apparently.

Yeah HP sucks, especially HP printers and scanners, they install all sorts of crap on your machine.

Re: Help to choose the best (laptop)
I had, and is still beeing used in my home, a HP Pavillion..never had problems with it. But stuff like Dell i hear the most problems about..look if something breaks in your pc no matter by which company, doesn't have to mean you should avoid it.
And about "installing all shorts of craps on your machine". All the hardware i have bought comes with a disk with 1: the driver and 2: shit shorts of craps programs (almost always trials for god sake).
I just install driver and be done with it.
