It's always a drag when people get so upset the want to just turn and leave the community, and it's especially tough when the attacks get personal.

That's part of the reason I had left years back after dealing with daily shit trying the admin the old CWA board. But hey, I ended up coming back, there's too many good people here to just turn your back on.

I'd say you can be alot stronger than leaving because some guy(s) said your work was crap, Try working in the "real world" where the customers just don't give a shit about your work/life. Jeez. I'm seein' a whole lotta pretty juvenile behavior here these days. Mostly from the juveniles...

I expect that from some of the younger guys. 'tis natural and doesn't necessarily reflect the general attitude of the majority of community members, but it is getting to be a bit much-especially when it involves people who are supposedly old enough to know better.

While criticism is normal-some of the critics are downright attacking people-and that ain't cool.

My advice to those that wanna fight: Take it elsewhere (unless we can open up a "Friday Night Fights" forum, which I think would just be freakin' AWESOME for entertainment...why not the rest of us get some amusement from alla this bullshit behavior-y'know...turn it around into something comical while giving it it's own place.).

The pattern is unmistakeable: New guy joins up and makes something/New guy posts something he thinks is awesome/somebody more experienced tells new guy what could be better about it/New guy takes the constructive criticism and learns how to do it better (which we strongly encourage)/Somebody else coes on with some asshole attack and just doesn't know when to shut the fuck up/New guy gets bent and says basically, "Fine then-I'll just take my football and go home!" like there's gonna be people actually weeping as the offended party walks out the door.

Old timers making asshole attacks: Cut the shit. You don't like it when people do it to you-don't do it to them.

Newer guys: Get over it. Ya get enough people from enough places in one area and there's gonna be an asshole or two sometimes. Not everybody is gonna like everything you do.

Take a break, go cool off, come back when ya head's back on straight and try again. Most of us like what yer doin' even if it sucks sometimes. You'll get better at it eventually. I made crap when I first got here-some say I still make crap. (I, however decided not to post my first few attempts because even I knew they were uber-crapp.)

Without members, there can be no community. I don't wanna see shit go down in flames.

I get your point there, however I think there should be added some more. Take me for example. I can tell myself without lying that I have been a boxer since my age of 9, and in all those years I have been through a lot. But that doesn't sell any bread here on this forum, and I know that.

I think I am well known as 'The Bad Guy' on this forum, wether it is in disrespect or not (My opinion aside). Anyway, I think it is because I can react like a complete dick some(most-of-the)times. But, it might be the other way.

I personally think that the reason behind some of my reckless reactions on this forum is /because/ of boxing. Y'know, I have to deal with a lot of anger, frustration, agression and shit. And for me, there is nothing better than to do a training, and to lose all the agression and stuff. But sometimes, when I didn't have any training yet, or my frustration is building up, yeah, I guess I turn into the bitch like you all know me.

But it's still the screenname and avatar that you get to know. Unless ofcourse you know the person outside of the internet, but the chance you'll end up in a message board fight with them is very slim.

See, I don't know what kind of impression I'm making here, but I like to think it's that of a funny guy. You wouldn't recognize me in real life even if I say I was me, though.

On here I can take the time to construct smart sounding (emphasis on sounding) sentences with fancy words, but down in the pub where we'll have the CarmaNetMeeting (?) I'll be quiet enough to go invisible coz I'll have trouble finding the right words in time to be relevant and if I do I'll struggle and stutter to get them out of my face.

What matters is how you interact with other people-and most folks can instantly tell by how and what ya write as to what kinda person ya are.

My point is-if yer a dick in real life-yer more than likely gonna be one on a forum. If yer a straightforward, well-adjusted, social individual, yer gonna tend to be one everywhere else, too.

By reading posts I can usually tell who is good, bad, and sometimes ugly. I can pretty much right away figure out who is older, who is teenaged, and mebbe sometimes how good their momma taught them manners.

It doesn't matter so much WHO you are, it's HOW you are. For example, some very general behavior types-classified by age groups:

OLDER FOLKS=Usually courteous, straightforward, spell stuff right, use punctuation, correct caps lock usage for the most part and generally try not to get into pissin' matches with others. (Unless they need some entertainment). Some TEENS also fit into this category, just by behavior.

TEENS=Mostly good-natured enough, but mebbe some are a bit naive when it comes to socializing outside their age group due to lack of enough experience sometimes. TEENS frequently insult each other and think nothing of it. Some don't handle criticism well (I personally think it has a lot to do with what I call the 'warm fuzzy' logic that gets ingrained into many kids these days (in my country anyways). That god-damned "Barney-the-dinosaur-even-if-it-sucks-ass-I'll-tell-you-just-how-freakin'-wonderful-it-is-so-I-won't-hurt-your-feelings" mentality. Y'all know real life is full of disappointment-regardless of what the Teletubbies say... Tends to either type in all caps until chastized or frequently misspells stuff because their heads are going way faster than their fingers are capable of going.

Tends to have the attention span of a sand flea (unless previously taught by some method such as repeatedly burning their hand on a hot stove burner several times before eventually realizing that the way to stop the pain is by reaching in from another direction. (Befroe ya gimme a ton of shit-I remember what it was like to be a teen and yes, 9/10ths of them are freakin' spastic at one time or another...it's got something to do with that hand-eye-brain coordination thing not quite being developed fully yet, and no-I only burned myself once before learning to reach on the stove a different way.)

RABID TEENS=People who you'd wanna hit the second ya see 'em-nevermind lettin' 'em open their mouths. Start fights 'cause they're bored, start fights 'cause their insecure, they start fights because they just got their ass kicked in a fight and they want an easier target, and in general don't get long with much of anybody. Tends to type in ALL CAPS, ALL THE TIME. Doesn't have a clue how to handle any kind of criticism and could care less how. Anti-social sonsabitches. Ban-Cannon fodder, straight up.

These bastids torture small animals for fun. Some older folks fit into this category because they're still assholes from when they were RABID TEENS.

FOLKS WE DON'T KNOW WHO THE HELL THEY ARE=Because they never tell us or act out in any way, shape or form. Types perfectly. All the time. Doesn't say shit other than basic facts. Or don't say anything atall.....in which case they don't really matter then, do they?



I prefer to deal with the first two groups, myself. They make a community worth visiting.



I still think this'd be a righteous idea for an extra forum....
